Brand History

The story of Timberland started when Nathan Swartz bought half an interest in the Abingdon Shoe Company in 1952, the remaining interest was brought in 1955 and the Swartz family turned the company into the leading brand manufacturers for 10 years. In 1965 they introduced injection-moulding technology which created truly waterproof shoes and boots. The Timberland brand name was introduced in 1973 and they became renowned for their guaranteed waterproof boots which were introduced the same year. Timberland watches were launched in 1996 to add to the brands growing line of products. The Timberland brand is well respected today for quality, durability and being environmentally friendly.
