At the age of 15, Renzo Russo embarked on his journey in the world of fashion by sewing jeans using his mother's sewing machine. Initially, he produced these jeans for himself and sold his designs to friends. Fuelled by his passion, Russo pursued education at a textile manufacturing high school. In 1976, he joined the clothing manufacturer Moltex, and within two years, with the support of his father, he acquired a 40% stake in the company, renaming it Diesel - the very foundation of the renowned fashion powerhouse we know today. In 1985, Russo went on to acquire the remaining shares of the company, solidifying his control. Throughout the 1990s, Russo's creative marketing techniques propelled Diesel into the position of being a household name. While the brand achieved huge amounts of success, it also saw controversy, which just added to Diesel's popularity. In 1997, Diesel stood as one of the pioneering fashion brands to establish an online retail website, showcasing its collections and embracing the digital frontier. Even after nearly fifty years, Diesel's unwavering commitment to innovation and defiance of conventions has ensured its enduring prominence in the ever-evolving fashion industry.
