All-New Seiko Astron 3X Watches

Today, Seiko has unveiled its all-new Astron 3X watches! A trio of timepieces taking inspiration from the solar system, these watches symbolise Seiko’s efforts to push its limits to the stars. Favoured by fans around the world, the Astron was the world’s first GPS solar watch to never need a battery change; powered by light, it automatically adjusts to your time zone through the latest GPS technology. Seiko’s passion for innovation is apparent in every Astron, and these new timepieces make no exceptions. Within a series taking inspiration from the solar system, the watches are inspired specifically by the Earth, Moon and Sun. Each with its own individual accents, they reflect their namesake object perfectly. If the all-new Seiko Astron 3X watches have piqued your interest so far, read on for more!

Core Features of The All-New Seiko Astron 3X Watches

The colourway of each watch may vary, but the design and features remain universal. Under the sapphire crystal glass, each model features a pressed pattern dial; a process difficult to achieve on a sailor cell, without reducing its charge efficiency. As well as this, each dial features luminous hands and baton indices with a date aperture at 3 o’clock and a sub-dial between 7 and 9 o’clock. In a new, futuristic design, each watch features a two-piece aluminium and super-hard coated titanium bezel. Ensuring that durability is front and centre of the watches, each model also features a super-hard titanium case.

Astron was the world’s first GPS solar watch, so it makes great sense that each watch comes with an array of GPS functions to match this reputation. From a function to prevent the GPS signal reception (in flight mode), to a GPS signal reception function and a satellite acquisition status display function, the watches are perfect for those who travel frequently. Each watch also includes a perpetual calendar, a power reserve indicator and a power save function.

Seiko’s in-house built 3X62 Solar-powered movement powers each timepiece. With GPS functionality, the movement has exceptional accuracy. In addition, it updates remotely with GPS satellites when the wearer moves between time zones; travelling has never been easier! Moreover, the movement is accurate to ± 15 seconds per month and has a power reserve of 6 months at full charge. For added convenience, each watch can be charged by any light source. Whether it be through natural sunlight or artificial light, you can remain confident that your watch will never let you down.

Seiko Astron 3X ‘Earth’ (42mm) Blue Dial / Titanium Bracelet SSJ023J1

Taking inspiration from the Earth and its watery surface, this watch showcases a blue pressed pattern dial. The hour and minute hands feature a new shape with a skeletonised centre. Together, with the baton indices, they enhance legibility. Measuring 42mm in diameter, a super-hard titanium case frames the dial. This case houses the 3X62 Solar GPS calibre movement that powers the timepiece. An allergy-safe titanium bracelet concludes the design of this watch. Not only does it provide great comfort on the wrist but also great security.

Seiko Astron ‘Moon’ (42mm) Grey Dial / Titanium Bracelet SSJ025J1

Taking inspiration from the Moon and its lunar regolith surface, this watch showcases a grey pressed pattern dial. A two-piece aluminium and super-hard coated titanium bezel frames the dial. The lower grey layer peaks through six notches in the upper layer; expressing a futuristic look with its advanced design. Thanks to its screw-down crown this watch is water-resistant up to 100 metres, making it more than suitable for daily wear. Like the ‘Earth’ model, a titanium bracelet concludes the design of the watch. Lightweight yet extremely durable, it ensures the timepiece sits comfortably on the wrist.

Seiko Astron 3X ‘Sun’ (42mm) Grey Dial / Titanium Bracelet SSJ026J1

Taking inspiration from the ‘Sun’ and its rays, this watch showcases a grey pressed pattern dial with gold-coloured accents. From the outline of the date aperture to the hand of the sub-dial, the gold-coloured accents bring a level of brightness to the otherwise dark dial; which reflects the purpose of the sun in the sky. Like the previous models, a 42mm titanium case frames the dial. Alongside this is a two-piece high-intensity titanium and ceramic bezel which exposes the lower gold-coloured layer. A high-intensity titanium bracelet secures the watch on the wrist. With a bright, mirror finish, it ensures an appearance that’s out of this world!
