The New Limited Edition Seiko Astron ‘Starfull Sky’ Models
Born from Seiko’s constant drive for the most accurate timekeeping possible, these two new models push the boundaries of innovation into the future. They take the Greek meaning of Astron, ‘Star’, and transform it into a design which reflects their glow in the night sky.
Seiko Astron ‘Starfull Sky’ 5X GPS Solar Chronograph Limited Edition SSH157J1
Limited to just 1,500 pieces, this chronograph is sure to catch the eye, and hearts, of many Seiko collectors. The light blue dial of this timepiece features a stamped star-shaped pattern. While this process is difficult to achieve on a dial with a solar cell, its results are spectacular. The dial also features silver-tone baton indices and hands; both feature a LumiBrite coating for enhanced legibility. Dual-curve sapphire glass protects the dial. Not only does it improve clarity levels, but durability levels too. Measuring 43.4mm in diameter, a lightweight titanium case, with a super-hard coating, frames the dial. Alongside this, is a black ceramic bezel for improved scratch resistance. The watch’s 5X83 calibre has solar GPS functionality, allowing for instantaneous and accurate changing of the time, no matter where you are in the world. This movement also allows for a wide variety of features; a chronograph function, a date display, daylight saving time and a automatic hand position alignment function are but to name a few. A titanium bracelet secures the watch, concluding the starry night look.
Seiko Astron ‘Starfull Sky’ 3X GPS Solar Limited Edition SSJ027J
This model also limited to 1,500 pieces, has a stamped star-shaped pattern dial but with a more simple design. The dial features LumiBrite silver-tone baton indies and hands, alongside a date aperture at 3 o’clock. And like the previous ‘Starfull Sky’ model, sapphire crystal glass protects the dial. Its super-clear coating ensures optimal clarity. Made from lightweight titanium, with a super-hard coating, and measuring 41.2mm in diameter, the case adopts a modern polygonal shape. Within this case lies the watch’s 3X62 calibre with solar GPS functionality. This highly energy-efficient movement provides the capability for a perpetual calendar, a function to prevent the GPS signal reception (in-flight mode) and a satellite acquisition status display function as well as many more. Complementing the case, and concluding the innovative design, is a titanium bracelet. Its three-fold clap, with push button release, provides both great comfort and security on the wrist. The watch is also water-resistant up to 100 metres, making it a practical choice for everyday wear.
