June 8th marks World Ocean Day. As well as celebrating the ocean and the role it plays in our lives, this day marks a call for change. The 2024 action theme for World Ocean Day is ‘Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate’. And although the theme is ambitious, there are various ways in which we can contribute to it. Phasing out the production of single use plastics and making the best use of all exciting climate solutions are just two of the many ways we can create a healthy blue planet. Abandoned ‘ghost nets’, which harm marine life, are melted down and the result is this unique green dial. For optimal timekeeping the dial features centre hands for hours, minutes and seconds as well as large baton indices; they all feature a luminescent coating. And enhancing the practicality of the watch, a date aperture features at 6 o’clock. A steel bezel with a silver-tone scale and a 43.5mm multi-piece stainless steel case encircle the dial. Within this case, and also visible through the exhibition case back, lies the watch’s 733 automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve.
