You may have seen recently on our social media we have been posting a lot about our favourite new brand that we have just had arrive in store, we’re just so excited to show and tell you all about this new brand and immerse you in its rich history. The Bruno Söhnle Glashütte company was born in Assmannhaus in the Saxon town of Glashütte and this is where Bruno Söhnle himself built some of the high-precision watches alongside traditional mechanical watches that you can see in our collection today.
It orginially started in 1957 on may 2nd when Bruno Söhnle entered the world of precision watch making and he’s never looked back. He has been manufacturing these alongside some of the most luxury German Glashütte brands in the watch industry such as A. Lange & Söhnle, Glashütte Original and Grossmann ühren GmbH. You can see the valley in the google maps below which showcases the Bruno Söhnle Glashütte factory taken earlier this year and its location to other German Glashütte brands.
Since 2000 the Bruno Söhnle Glashütte company has grown from strength to strength to the international brand it is today with authorised stockists in 36 countries around the globe, the UK being the 36th and we are one of only three stockists to have taken on this brand inside the UK. We are looking forward to adding this brand to our portfolio and watching it grow with ourselves both online and in store.
Bruno Söhnle Glashütte
Bruno Söhnle Glashütte watches combine the art of refined design and technical perfection in every single one of the watches that it produces making sure that the highest level of accuracy and precision is put into these timepieces every single day. The brand wants to turn something as simple as checking the time into a special moment rather than a mundane task. The brand has seen the ever growing popularity of the quartz movement and has managed to redesign the quartz watch turning it into a timepiece that uses the highest quality materials and mechanical features such as the sapphire crystal case back so that you can see the back of the quartz movement in the watches themselves.
Bruno Söhnle Glashütte state that:
“The best times of your life are those moments that you will never forget, you will remember them forever. It is the time for enjoying things, perceiving beauty and bestowing special attention on unusual things.”
Which we completely agree with, watches do measure time but they are not limited to this, they can do so much more. They tell us when great things have entered our minds, they remind us of times we had and they chart in our minds important key dates and memories we had on those dates. Another great quote from Bruno Söhnle Glashütte was “Watches tell us how long we may linger in thee moments”.
The Bruno Söhnle Glashütte name has been connected to the world of German watchmaking for over 50 years, the original Assmann-Haus in Glashütte is now used as both a production and development centre which allows Bruno Söhnle Glashütte to refine and reassemble models using qualified specialists. The brand has dedicated themselves to always being able to offer the right watch at exactly the right time and this has allowed them to create watch collections to suite any event be it sportive, elegant, avant-garde or feminine.
Quality In Precision
You can always purchase a Bruno Söhnle Glashütte watch with confidence as they used what is coined as ‘Quality that you can see’ this means all of their watches are stamped with the Glashütte label or origin which warrants proven German quality on all of their watches. Bruno Söhnle Glashütte print this on the dial with their logo as they want to make it as prominent as possible that they are part of the select few watch factories in this prestigious Bruno Glashütte area.
Scratch Resistance
Bruno Söhnle Glashütte use sapphire crystal glass on all of their watches to make sure that their watches are as scratch resistant as possible. Sapphire crystal is one of the hardest types of watch crystal available to use. High refraction makes sure that the dial is always brightly lit even under poor or low lighting conditions. Sapphire resistant is also extremely scratch resistant which means that one of the most delicate parts of your watch will be as protected as possible whilst still being readable. All of the watches are also finished with an anti-reflective coating on the inside of the glass.
Water Resistance
Bruno Söhnle Glashütte wanted their watches to be superior when it came to water tightness and impact resistance which is often considered a requirement in most modern watches to make sure that it is suitable for everyday use and wear. The brand ensures that they achieve this by using screw down crowns on some of their models. This makes sure that the crown is securely screwed down using a thread as this allows the base of the crown to be screwed in and therefore considerably more waterproof.
Straps & Bracelets
Every Bruno Söhnle Glashütte watch comes with either a pure calf skin leather strap or a high quality 316L surgery steel or titanium bracelet. Any straps with exotic finishes such as alligator are produced by imitation only and not using the real thing this is made possible by embossing. They also use a range of buckles depending on the design, these are usually butterfly buckles or pin buckles which use either spring lugs or screw pins which are also dependant on the model of watch and bracelet.
Micron Plated High Quality Case Finish
Something I have rarely ever seen before is Micron plating especially not on a watch so its incredible to see that Bruno Söhnle Glashütte are using it for the cases of their automatic watches and this is even gold plated in some special lines and to promise the lowest possible attrition they use gold plating with 10 microns.
Made in Germany
Bruno Söhnle Glashütte are proudly made in Germany and its incredible when you look at the sheer amount of parts within these watches is produced in house, right there in Germany. To be able class a product as Glashütte a minimum of 60% of the watches inner workings has to be manufactured in Germany and in all of the automatic watches that this brand manufacture the plates, bridges and rotor are all in house.
Blue Screws Within the Movement
All the screws you see on all of the watches are blue this is because they are heated in house to give them this finish, around 2000 tiny little screws are blued in house every single day and each one is checked by hand to make sure that it is the correct blue and any that don’t meet the colour tolerance are put back for recycling to be made again. This is the level of detail and work that goes in to each automatic watch that Bruno Söhnle Glashütte manufacture and for the price of them you are getting so much more than just a timepiece.
