The All-New Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Bronze
The Case and Dial
Where the 2017 bronze model sported a deep blue quadrillé dial, this new version enters a new space of sophistication. The gradient smoked chocolate dial, with a Clous de Paris texture, adds dimension and intricacy. As well as this, the 4N gold PVD Maurice Lacroix logo at 12 o’clock serves as a beacon of lusture. An interplay of light and shadow, the faceted hour minute and second hands, also in 4N gold, glide across the restrained stick indices. White Super-LumiNova inserts on the indices and hour and minute hands ensure optimal legibility at a glance, even in low-light conditions. But most importantly, they add to the distinctive presence created by the blend of hues and textures. For optimal durability and clarity, a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating protects the dial. Moreover, a date aperture features at 3 o’clock to highlight the functionality of the timepiece.
Subtly adding depth and character to the model, a bezel with sandblasted riders surrounds the dial. Adopting Maurice Lacroix’s infamous six ‘claw’ design, it is extremely eye-catching and further highlights the urban edge of the watch. A brushed and polished bronze case also frames the dial, and due to the natural properties of watch, the case will develop a distinctive patina over time. A direct consequence of how, when, where and by whom the watch is worn, it leads to the ultimate form of personalisation. Thanks to its screwed crown, and 200 metres of water resistance, the Aikon Automatic Bronze is ready for any adventure!
The Movement and Finishing Touches
Maurice Lacroix has collaborated with Sellita to develop the exclusive Automatic ML132 calibre which powers the timepiece. In line with the brand’s high standards on horological precision, the movement, with its rhodium-plated components, features superb colimaçonnage snailing and perlage circular graining finished. This, alongside the rotor, can be seen through the open case back with the Maurice Lacroix logo. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and with a 38-hour power reserve, the movement ensures reliable accuracy.
An integrated vintage brown leather strap, embellished with the hallmark ‘M’ emblem in 4N Gold, concludes the design of this timepiece with a refined urban edge. The strap fastens with a bronze pin buckle, and like the case, it will develop a distinctive patina over time. Maurice Lacroix’s EasyStrap system exemplifies functionality, enabling the wearer to switch the strap with ease. Without the need for a special tool, you can change the strap to suit the time, place or mood.
