Embrace the spirit of summertime sailing with all-new Mühle Glashütte 29er Big models. Just in time for August, Mühle Glashütte has released four new summer editions of its popular 29er Big collection. Rooted in the brand’s rich marine heritage, the 29er takes its name from a popular dinghy used in the German Sailing Association’s youth championships. The two stunning new dial colourways reinforce these nautical roots and add a splash of summery colour to the range. Available in either sand or Pacific blue, each dial colourway offers the choice of either a canvas strap or a sporty stainless steel bracelet. Without further ado, let’s dive into the core features of these four new Mühle Glashütte 29er Big summer models.
Core Features of the New Mühle Glashütte 29er Big Summer Models
Universal across all four models is the housing. Framing each of the dials is a stainless steel case. Although it measures a mighty 42.4mm, the cases retain a streamlined shape with a profile of just 11.3mm. Moreover, their robust build offers excellent water resistance of up to 100 metres or 10 bars.
Beating from within this case is an automatic mechanical movement. Using a Swiss-made Sellita SW 200-1 calibre as its base, the brand has adapted it to meet Mühle Glashütte regulations. Added features include the efficient Mühle rotor and its shockproof woodpecker neck regulation. The latter component offers optimal protection and ensures incredibly high accuracy by facilitating the sensitive regulation in six different positions. Consequently, you can be assured that your watch will never let you down.
Beyond this release alone, the new models also share features characteristic of the broader 29er collection too. For example, the dials feature the same 3 o’clock date display, applied indices, and red second hand as the other 29er Zeigerdatum models. Moreover, their two-tone dial design also unites the new models with their ancestors.
Muhle Glashutte 29er Big (42.4mm) Sand Dial with either a Nautical Blue Canvas Strap or a Stainless Steel Bracelet
The first of the two dial colourways is this beautiful sandy shade. It introduces a warmer hue than the typical colours of the existing 29ers and has a vintage sailor’s feel to it. Complementing its pale but warming colour are silver-tone applied baton indices, which echo the central hour and minute hands. For improved readability in low light conditions, these hands feature a luminescent inlay. Moreover, each of the baton indices is accented by a luminescent marker, which sits on the flange. Encircling the circumference of the dial, the flange is dark blue in colour and beautifully frames the design.
There are two different models available with this dial. The first secures to the wrist with a deep nautical blue canvas strap (M1-25-36-CB) that fastens with a pin buckle. Alternatively, for a sportier silhouette, there is also a stainless steel bracelet model (M1-25-36-MB) which is secured with a butterfly clasp. Each strap option has a width of 22mm.
Classic with a subtle vintage flair to it, the sand dial colourway exudes effortless maritime elegance.
Muhle Glashutte 29er Big (42.4mm) Pacific Blue Dial with either a Coffee Brown Canvas Strap or a Stainless Steel Bracelet
At the centre of the second set of colourways is a Pacific blue dial. Like its sand-coloured counterparts, the Pacific blue models have applied luminescent silver indices and hands. However, the petrol-blue flange on this model is more complementary to the dial’s primary tone. As the colourway’s name implies, the bold flange accentuates the oceanic nature of the main dial. The resultant design is bright and has a summertime nostalgia to it, all without detracting from the simplicity of the core design.
To pair with this beautiful dial, there are two strap options. Similarly to the former model, there is a coffee brown canvas strap option (M1-25-39-CB) which fastens with a buckle. Or, there is a classic stainless steel bracelet model (M1-25-39-MB) too.
One of the most colourful 29ers to date, this dial colourway is certainly a refreshing addition to the collection.
