The Seiko Astron was the world’s first GPS Solar watch and never needs a battery change. Impressively, these timepieces are powered by light and can automatically adjust to a time zone using the latest GPS technology. If you are a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, or would simply like to learn more about these new Seiko wristwatches, keep reading for more information.
Seiko x Resident Evil Collaboration
Each of the two brand-new models is limited to just 600 pieces worldwide. This means that the timepieces are set to be incredibly collectable amongst both Seiko fans and Resident Evil enthusiasts. The ‘Resident Evil: Vendetta’ film, based on the world of the Japanese ‘Resident Evil’ videogame, was released in 2017. Its huge success followed the popularity of the game and made ‘Resident Evil’ a huge name in the movie and gaming community. A sequel movie named ‘Resident Evil: Death Island’ is due to be released in the Summer of 2023. The new collaboration timepieces celebrate this film and will be worn by the two main characters in the movie.
The New Watches
Both of the new timepieces are powered by the Seiko in-house 5X calibre GPS Solar movement with advanced functionality. The GPS module has been re-engineered to be faster and more intuitive than ever, improving the user experience. These watches take merely three seconds to advance the time 14 hours from Tokyo to New York. This is made possible as the hour, minute and second hands move independently. The watch also allows easy adjustment to daylight saving time and the ability to switch from home to local time instantly. A time zone change only requires the push of a single button.
