Longines has just announced its all-new Longines Ultra-Chron watches. These watches set Longines apart as a pioneer in the world of sports timing. The watches are built with new automatic movements that introduce a whole new level of accuracy to the wristwatch. The new models are available in two designs. Each design is available in both a special box edition and a standard edition, ensuring there is a perfect Ultra-Chron for every collector.
The New Ultra-Chron
The all-new Longines Ultra-Chron watches are powered by the most accurate movement that the brand has ever created. The accuracy of this automatic movement is confirmed by its status as an ultra chronometer, meaning that it goes above and beyond the usual requirements for chronometer status. The movements are tested by TIMELAB, an independent testing laboratory in Geneva. This movement provides the watch with a power reserve of up to 52 hours. Each movement is also equipped with a monocrystalline silicon balance spring to reinforce the high level of accuracy.
The design of these new models is inspired by the original Longines Ultra-Chron Diver of 1968. This historical inspiration gives the new timepieces a distinctive vintage aesthetic. This will mean that these watches will appeal to both vintage watch fans and technology lovers. The seamless combination of old and new in these new designs creates an unusual timepiece that will make a brilliant addition to any watch collection.
The Watches
The Dial and Case
Each model exhibits a bold black dial that is detailed with baton indices. The hour and minute hands of each watch exhibit a polished silver finish, whilst the minute hand is designed in a vibrant shade of red. The details of the dial are treated with Swiss SuperLuminova to ensure that the dial can be easily read in all lighting conditions. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal is used to protect the dial, reducing glare and giving the timepiece a good level of scratch resistance. A unidirectional rotating black bezel frames the dial. It is detailed with red markers, making it easy to use. The movement that powers this watch is housed within a stainless steel case. This case measures 43mm in diameter and 13.6mm in thickness, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist.
The Finishing Touches
The all-new Longines Ultra-Chron watches are water-resistant up to an impressive 30 bar. This means that the watches can be worn for most water-based activities. This makes these timepieces a great choice for everyday wear. This level of water resistance is aided by the screw-in crown. The watch is available in two strap options. One option is a classic and timeless brown leather strap. The alternative is an elegant and modern stainless steel bracelet. Both of these options are available in a special Box Edition (Brown Leather L28364528 and Stainless Steel L28364529). The Box Edition watches are displayed in a special presentation box that contains a black NATO strap that is made from recycled material. The strap is detailed with a bold red stripe through its centre to perfectly match the red details on the dial.
