Longines have launched the new Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo watches. These new models celebrate the carefree spirit of the late 1940s. During wartime, people had little reason to celebrate and were unable to enjoy lavish parties. When the war came to an end, people were thrilled to once again adorn themselves with luxury accessories and attend luxury events, and venues such as jazz bars.
The two new Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo watches are inspired by historical timepieces and have been designed with the aesthetic of the regained freedom of the 1940s. The classic designed have been modernised to make them equally as fashionable for today’s watch collectors. However, to stay faithful to the vintage designs, Longines have chosen to omit the word ‘automatic’ and a date aperture from the dials. These new watches acquired the nickname ‘Tuxedo’ due to their black and white colour scheme.
The New Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Watches
Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo | Men’s | Swiss Automatic L23304930
This model is the 3-hand version of the new Tuxedo watches. It features a popular 1940s design with an opaline silver disc at the centre of the dial. This is surrounded by a matte black circle that exhibits Arabic hour indices. The polished silver Superluminova hands ensure that the dial can be read in the dark. This model features a small seconds counter in the 6 o’clock position on the dial. The dial is protected by scratch resistant and antireflective sapphire crystal.
A stainless steel case frames the dial. It measures 38.5mm in diameter and 11.65mm in thickness. The case houses an automatic L893 self-winding mechanical movement. The 3-hand version of the new Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo is secured to the wrist using a black leather strap that fastens with a buckle. This watch is splash resistant and should not be submerged in water.
