If you are looking to change a Garmin watch strap, keeping reading for our guide on how to change a Garmin watch strap.
The Types of Garmin Watch Strap
Garmin offer a variety of straps, with the type depending on the watch model. This range of choice allows the individual to make a decision based on their personal preferences and lifestyle. Some straps are easier to change than others, making those models more suited to an individual who likes to adjust their watch daily to coordinate with their outfits. Personalisation is key to daily accessorising as it allows for a unique and distinctive look, allowing the wearer to stand out. Garmin straps come in a range of sizes to ensure that each model is adjustable and possible to personalise.
Screw-in Watch Straps
Some Garmin models use screw-in watch bands. This type of strap tends to be found on the older Garmin models and is a commonly used fastening amongst a large variety of watch manufacturers. In order to remove and change these straps, a screwdriver will be required. The screwdriver will need to be used to loosen the screws that are positioned either side of the lugs in order to remove the strap. It is recommended to keep the screws with the band that has been removed so that they can be reused when the strap is attached to the watch again. The new band will come with new screws. To attach the new strap, it ought to be lined up with the lugs and the screws fastened. The new strap will now be ready to wear.
Quick Release Bands
This kind of Garmin strap is much quicker and easier to change than the screw-in watch straps. They also have the advantage of not needing any tools to be swapped. These straps will have a ‘quick release’ pin that can be found on the underside of the band. The pin should be pulled back along the spring bar, releasing the strap. The old strap can then be removed and the new one installed. In order to attach the new strap, one side of the strap should be aligned with the lugs. Then the quick release pin can be pulled back. Once the pin is aligned with the correct position on the lug, it can be released and will click into place. The band locks into place automatically, ensuring for a secure and comfortable fit. This process can then be repeated to change the other half of the band.
QuickFit Bands
Garmin’s QuickFit watch straps are the simplest ones to change and swap out, making the models that use this type of band the easiest to personalise. To change this kind of strap, it is necessary to pull down on the quick release lever, and then the watch strap will come unattached. To attach the new QuickFit band, the strap needs to be lined up with the watch and pushed into place. To check that the strap is secure, it is advised to double check that the latch has closed over the watch pin. This process should be repeated on the other half of the strap to change it.
