Introducing the all new Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 Auto Chrono Limited Edition. Created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a watchmaking milestone.
The technical world of automatic watchmaking took a significant step forward in 1969, thanks to the dedication and hard work of Hamilton. The Swiss watchmakers played an integral part in the development of the first ever automatic chronograph movement. This was a development that helped to propel the watch industry as a whole forward in to the next chapter of history. So, this is what the Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 celebrates.
’70s Style Re-Imagined
The Chrono-Matic 50 is certainly a bold, attention-grabbing style with it’s distinctive and daring shapes and colours. However, this is because the watch has been based on a Hamilton classic, the Chrono-Matic E, from the early ’70s. This watch has become an iconic style, and since it’s release has become a highly sought after piece among collectors!
The Chrono-Matic E came during a time of creativity, with the ’70s being a hotbed of distinctive and unusual models. All of which looking to utilize the power of the pioneering new Caliber 11 movement.
Hamilton had a very close involvement with the creation of the Caliber 11 movement, which actually left them in a better position than most to produce watches that would be able to accurately showcase the new technology. This was one of the biggest breakthroughs in watchmaking since Hamilton launched the iconic Ventura back in 1957.
The Hamilton Chrono Matic 50
This new limited edition model showcases an evolution in precision timekeeping. The watch features a date display at the 6 o’clock position and chronograph counters at 3 and 9. This allows the Chrono-Matic 50 to offer the wearer a highly functional experience.
Marked in red, the two chronograph push buttons can be found on the right hand side of the case; above and below the crown. This bold red accent colour can be found on all features that are linked to the chronograph. Meaning that this can be seen on the counters, push buttons, chronograph hand and inner dial ring. This not only adds another dimension of dynamic style to the timepiece, but also increases its usability as a multi-functional timekeeper.
The authentic ’70s style stainless steel case of this model sits at 48mm. Offering an imposing, impressive aesthetic, making it instantly recognizable.
A Milestone in Automatic Timekeeping
This timepiece may be inspired by the classic Chrono-Matic E, and a movement created 50 years ago, however for a modern powerhouse such as this, the watch has certainly been upgraded to keep up with modern standards. Not only this, but Hamilton have gone above and beyond. They have fit the H51616731 with their popular H-31 automatic chronograph movement, offering an extended power reserve of 60 hours. This allows the watch to continue ticking even when you take some downtime without the watch. Allowing it to keep running for over 2 days without use. This engine is not only used to keep the watch ticking, and allow the chronograph function to activate, but to also provide power to the quick-change date function too. This function takes into consideration your need for quick thinking when you’re on the go!
The development of the Caliber 11 was a fantastic historical milestone in the world of watchmaking. With Hamilton playing an important role as a key partner in development. The powerful character of the new Chrono-Matic 50 Limited Edition captures the essence of Hamilton’s past. A watch that will invigorate the imagination of collectors and design aficionados alike.
