Calling all James Bond fans! Over the course of the last 65 years, the many different Bonds have worn a variety of different watches, however, one of the most iconic is the Rolex Submariner. Now, one of the very last watches worn by the famous super spy James Bond has recently gone up for auction. For those that are local to Birmingham, the watch went on display on the 26th of October in Fellows and was then auctioned off on the 30th of October and was estimated to be sold for over £90,000.

This watch was one of two Rolex submariners that were worn in the 1989 film, Licence to Killand was worn by Timothy Dalton’s stunt double during the famous chase scene. The storyline of Licence to Kill, pitted Bond against the Central American drug lord Sanchez and was filled with action scenes involving a submarine battle in the Bahamas and a car chase with tanker trucks that took place in the Mexican desert.

It is a handsome and bold divers watch which stands out for its classic black and silver colour scheme. It’s an iconic and distinguished timepiece established by Rolex and will make an excellent addition to a varied watch collection. The sale of this established timepiece included the restored Rolex Submariner 16610, a book on the making of the film Licence to Kill, provenance papers, the original parts of the timepiece that were exchanged during repairs as well as a certificate of authenticity from EON productions film company.

The Submariner was first worn by Sean Connery int he 1962 film, Doctor No and was actually part of his wardrobe on and off since the 1990’s, until bond swapped for the Omega Seamaster.
