The All-New tactix 8 Series
Built-in Functions
Garmin smartwatches thrive when it comes to functionality. And these new tactix® 8 models make no exception. Each watch features advanced GPS navigation with multi-band GNSS support, topographic maps, and real-time weather updates for precise route planning. Tactical-specific tools include night vision compatibility, a stealth mode that disables wireless communication, and a kill switch to erase sensitive data if needed. Fitness tracking is robust, offering heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep analysis, and specialised training metrics. Additionally, smartwatch essentials like smart notifications, Garmin Pay, and music storage ensure convenience in any environment.
While not a new feature, each smartwatch includes a built-in multi-coloured LED flashlight. With a steady beam in either green or white, it gives you greater visibility in the outdoors and provides convenient illumination when you need it. Moreover, tactix 8 comes with a selection of safety and tracking features. These features allow you to call or send a message with your live location to emergency contacts when paired with your smartphone.
Appearance
With a titanium bezel and a sapphire lens, tactix® 8 makes a bold and durable statement. Each 1.4-inch display is securely set into a super tough fibre-reinforced polymer case which is tested to U.S. military standards for thermal, shock and water resistance. A black silicone strap secures each watch to the wrist. Comfortable, breathable and highly flexible, it guarantees a perfect fit. The 51mm variants also come with a black nylon strap for added versatility.
To accommodate each individual need, tactix 8 comes with two different case sizes: 47mm (010-03405-01) and 51mm (010-03406-01) and (010-03407-01). One of the 51mm variants comes in a Solar variety. While this does not include an AMOLED display, but rather a solar-charging lens, it still impress with its rugged designs and advanced tactical features. As for colourways, the new series keeps it simple. Each watch follows an all-black colour scheme, which gives it a modern, high-tech look. This colour scheme also benefits those in the military. The all-black look helps to blend in with the environments and uniforms, minimising the risk of drawing unwanted attention to the wearer; which is crucial for stealth and covert operations in tactical situations.
Across all the different-sized models, the battery life is very impressive. Each watch can last weeks without any need for recharging. At its best, the battery is able to last up to 16 days on 47mm case models. This is followed by 29 days on 51mm models. However, the solar-charging models are where the impressive nature of the battery life gets to shine through. With solar charging, the battery life lasts up to 48 days and without solar charging up to 30 days.
