The New Additions to Seiko’s Presage and Astron Collections

The Seiko Presage Classic Series Watches

Underneath the dual-curve sapphire glass, each watch exhibits a ‘Shiro-Iro’ coloured dial with gold-coloured accents. The dial texture draws inspiration from unbleached natural Japanese silk; a material which has long featured in Japanese home décor and clothing since ancient times. Each dial also features a mix of curved gold-tone hands and indices. Not only do these evoke vintage style but they maximise light reflections. A stainless steel case, with gold-coloured accents, frames each dial. Lending a noble look to the wrist, it enhances the watch’s elegance. Moreover, each case features an exhibition case back. Through this, the wearer can view the in-house built 6R calibre that powers the watches. A seven-piece multi-row stainless steel bracelet secures each Classic Series model on the wrist. Allowing for maximum movement and comfort, as it is only 6mm long, it is the perfect finishing touch for each minimalist design.

Seiko Presage Classic Series in Delicate Cream Silk (40.2mm) Champagne Dial / Steel Bracelet SPB478J1

With a texture inspired by unbleached natural Japanese silk, the curved ‘Shiro-Iro’ coloured dial exhibits curved gold-coloured baton indices and matching hands. In addition, a date aperture features at the 3 o’clock position. While adding to the overall design, this complication also increases the watch’s functionality. Measuring 40.2mm in diameter, a stainless steel case frames the dial. Comfortable and extremely durable, it ensures the watch is a suitable companion for daily wear. Within the case, and visible through the exhibition case back, is the watch’s automatic movement. A 6R55 calibre with a 72-hour power reserve, it ensures great accuracy and precision. A seven-row multi-piece stainless steel bracelet, that fastens with a deployment clasp, concludes the minimalist design of this Seiko.

Seiko Presage Classic Series Open Heart in Delicate Cream Silk (40.2mm) Champagne Dial / Steel Bracelet SPB480J1

Under dual-curve sapphire glass, the champagne-coloured dial features curved gold-tone baton indices and hands. While evoking vintage style, the indices and hands maximise light reflections; enhancing the watch’s opulent feel as they do so. The dial also features a recessed open-heart sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a recessed 24-hour sub-dial at 6 o’clock. A 40.2mm stainless steel case, with gold-coloured accents, frames the dial. These details provide an elegant contrast and also highlight the watch’s functionality and durability. Seiko’s in-house built 4R39 automatic movement powers this timepiece and for an added touch the wearer can view the movement’s inner beauty through both the exhibition case back and open-heart sub-dial. A stainless steel bracelet, with a deployment clasp, concludes the radiant design of this timepiece

The Seiko Astron GPS Solar Watches

Underneath sapphire crystal glass, each watch exhibits a gradient purple dial sprinkled with fine glitter. The circular pattern on each dial depicts cherry blossoms glowing in the night sky. Each dial also features black baton indices and black hour and minute hands with a Lumibrite coating. For an additional splash of colour, the second hand of each watch is orange. In a compact and slim design, each watch features a titanium bezel. Ensuring that durability remains at the forefront of the watches, each model also features a titanium case; with a super-hard coating for increased scratch resistance. Both new additions to Seiko’s Astron collection are limited to 1,500 pieces.

Astron was the world’s first GPS solar watch, so it makes great sense that each watch comes with an array of GPS functions to match this reputation. From a function to prevent the GPS signal reception (in flight mode), to a time transfer function and a satellite acquisition status display function, the watches are perfect for those who are always on the move. Each watch also includes a dual-time function, an automatic hand position alignment function and a perpetual calendar amongst several other features.

Seiko Astron GPS Solar 3X ‘Yozakura’ – Cherry Blossom by Night – Limited Edition SSJ029J1

Taking inspiration from Japan’s cherry blossom trees at night, this Seiko centres around a gradient purple dial with fine glitter. The dial exhibits luminous hands and baton indices for optimal readability in all light conditions. In addition, the dial features a date aperture at 3 o’clock and a sub-dial between 7 and 9 o’clock. Measuring 42mm in diameter, a lightweight titanium case frames the dial. The case has sleek lines and a slim profile with a super-hard black coating for increased scratch resistance. Moreover, the case aids the watch’s 100 metres of water resistance. On the case back, the wearer can view an engraving of the watch’s serial number alongside the words ‘LIMITED EDITION’ and the limited edition number; for example, 0001/1500. Seiko’s in-house built 3X62 solar-powered movement, with GPS functionality, powers this timepiece. And for added convenience, the watch can be charged by any light source. An allergy-safe titanium bracelet secures this model on the wrist.

Seiko Astron GPS Solar 5X Dual Time Chronograph ‘Yozakura’ – Cherry Blossom by Night – Limited Edition SSH171J1

Under a sapphire crystal glass, within a modern, compact and angular case design, is a purple dial with fine glitter against a purple gradation. The dial features luminous hands and baton indices with four chronograph sub-dials and a date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock. Measuring 42mm in diameter, a titanium case, with a super-hard black coating, frames the dial. This case houses the 5X83 solar GPS calibre movement that powers the timepiece. Accurate to ± 15 seconds per month and with a power reserve of 6 months, it will never let you down! Reinforcing the exclusive nature of this timepiece, the case back features the words ‘LIMITED EDITION’ alongside an engraving of the serial number. A titanium bracelet concludes the design of the watch. Lightweight, and yet extremely durable, it ensures great comfort on the wrist.
