About The Collaboration
Freedom, independence, loyalty and diversity. Shared by the independent Geneva-based watchmaker and the graphic novel hero, these four words make up the fundamental values of this collaboration.
Raymond Weil has always had a prominent relationship with the arts, so this collaboration comes as no surprise. Through this partnership with Philippe Francq, Raymond Weil enters the universe of the 9th Art. One of the best-selling graphic novel series in the world, Largo Winch is a reference in the adventure and thriller genre, read from generation to generation. Largo’s stories have also been adapted to cinema!
Philippe Francq’s work stands out by its detailed illustrations and captivating storytelling, enthralling millions of readers worldwide in a rich universe, filled with symbolism and emotion. And when it comes to this limited series, no exceptions are made! The case back features a drawing created by Francq which places Largo Winch on the Mont-Blanc Bridge; one of Geneva’s greatest landmarks. In the background, you can see a hint of one of the ‘Belle Epoque’ paddle steamers of the Lake Geneva company alongside the flags of Switzerland and the City of Geneva fluttering in the wind. A perfect metaphor for an adventure about to begin and the pure spirit of its hero…
Raymond Weil Millesime Chronograph x Largo Winch Limited Edition Watch
The Case and Dial
In fusing classic Swiss elegance with the adventurous spirit of modern times, this new Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph is a tribute to Largo Winch’s inspiring determination and courage. The silver sector dial exhibits three green sub-dials as well as black baton indices and luminous silver-tone hands. While the green panda-style sub-dials bring a pop of colour to the dial, they also have a more significant meaning; showing the codes of the Largo Winch universe as in the colour of ‘dollar bills’ (Pantone 4214C). Using this symbolic colour more subtly, a tachymeter scale surrounds the outer edge of the dial. Moreover, the colour also features on the tip of the silver-tone second hand.
Measuring 39.5mm in diameter, a stainless steel case frames the dial. Small enough to not take up much space on your wrist but stylish enough to make a great statement, it is an inclusive size that anyone can rock! The classic, sporty elegance of this watch and its neo-vintage look is enhanced by the glassbox sapphire crystal that protects the dial. With a dual-sided anti-reflective coating on both sides, not only does it ensure optimal clarity but also optimal durability. Furthermore, thanks to the 3 o’clock crown, the watch is water-resistant up to 50 metres; making it a suitable choice for daily wear.
The Movement and Finishing Touches
At the heart of this Raymond Weil x Largo Winch watch, and visible through the incredibly detailed exhibition case back, is the watch’s RW5030 automatic movement. Boasting a 62-hour power reserve, it embodies the intense rhythm of Largo Winch’s adventurers; where everything can change in a split-second. Moreover, the movement allows for a trio of chronograph functions; a small seconds counter, a 30-minute timer, and a 12-hour timer. As previously mentioned, the case back features a drawing by Philippe Francq which places Largo Winch on the Mont-Blanc Bridge. While adding to the artisanal approach of the watch, it is also symbolic of the bridge connecting these two worlds.
A grey genuine caf leather strap, with a unique W-stitched detail, concludes the design of this limited edition timepiece. An embossed W from the Largo Winch official logo features on the lining of the bracelet; further highlighting the relationship between the Geneva-based watchmaker and the graphic novel hero. Ensuring both a comfortable and secure fit on the wrist, the strap fastens with a traditional stainless steel buckle. You can go about your daily tasks and adventures not having to worry about your watch sliding everywhere!
