Core Features of the All-New Seiko Astron 5X Watches
The colourway of each watch may vary, but the design features are universal across the entire launch. Under a dual-curved sapphire crystal glass, each model exhibits a textured dial. The increased charging capacity of this calibre allows for this textured dial while maintaining high charging efficiency. In addition to this, each dial features luminous hands and baton indices with four chronograph sub-dials and a date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock. In a compact and slim design, each watch features a titanium bezel. Ensuring that durability remains at the forefront of the watches, each model also features a titanium case; with a super-hard coating for increased scratch resistance.
Astron was the world’s first GPS solar watch, so it makes great sense that each watch comes with an array of GPS functions to match this reputation. From a function to prevent the GPS signal reception (in flight mode), to a time transfer function and a satellite acquisition status display function, the watches are perfect for those who are always on the move. Each watch also includes a dual-time function, an automatic hand position alignment function and a perpetual calendar amongst several other features.
Seiko’s in-house built 5X83 Solar-powered movement powers each timepiece. It inherits the same functions of the 5X53, however, it has the added capability to measure elapsed time through its chronograph features. The chronograph can measure elapsed time up to 1/20th of a second. Moreover, the movement is accurate to ± 15 seconds per month and has a power reserve of 6 months at full charge. For added convenience, each watch can be charged by any light source. Whether it be through natural sunlight or artificial light, you can remain confident that your watch will never fail you.
