A Brief History of Maurice Lacroix

Founded as part of Desco Von Schulthess, the story of Maurice Lacroix began in 1975. And by 1980, Maurice Lacroix had become so successful that the facility in Saignelégier ceased production for third parties. Nine years later, the Swiss brand acquired the case maker Queloz S.A.; this ability to produce watch cases in-house set them aside from other luxury watch companies.

During the 1990s, Maurice Lacroix launched their high-end Les Mécaniques line – the Masterpiece line as we know it today. During this time, the brand elevated itself to the superior ranks of Swiss watch manufacturers. By both maintaining traditional Swiss watchmaking art and creating their movements for the Masterpiece collection, Maurice Lacroix solidified their name in the horological world.

Since then, Maurice Lacroix has created several groundbreaking watches and impressed many with their ingenious marketing. From working in collaboration with #tide, to the creation of the ML Crew, Maurice Lacroix understands their audience and what appeals to them. Hence their great success in the watch industry.

The Best of Maurice Lacroix Watches

Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver Special Edition (42mm) Black Dial / Black Rubber Strap PT6248-DLB00-330-2

This special edition model has a hunger for nocturnal adventures. Playing with contrasts, its black lacquered dial features both yellow and white accents on the hands and indices. For enhanced readability, a date aperture features at 6 o’clock and the hands and indices both feature a Super-LumiNova coating. A stealthy 42mm black DLC stainless steel case frames the dial, and due to the properties of DLC, is very resistant to abrasive and adhesive wear. Therefore, making the watch a great choice for daily use. A unique but practical addition, an additional crown features at 2 o’clock. While it can be used to measure elapsed time spent underwater, it can also be used as an aide memoire in the office. Moreover, this crown aids the watch’s impressive 300 metres of water resistance.

An automatic ML115 calibre powers the watch; reliable and precise it ensures accurate timekeeping. A black rubber strap, with a sandblasted black DLC pin buckle, secures the watch to the wrist. However, if this isn’t to your taste, you can switch it for an alternative thanks to Maurice Lacroix’s Easy Strap Exchange System.

Maurice Lacroix Aikon Quartz Chronograph (42mm) Grey Sunray Dial / Stainless Steel Bracelet AI1118-SS002-230-1

Courtesy of its chronograph and date display, this urban-themed model proves incredibly versatile. Its sun-brushed grey dial features three contrasting blue sub-dials and a date aperture at 6 o’clock. Adding to the refined nature of the watch, the dial also features rhodium-plated baton indices and hands; both with a white Super-LumiNova coating for optimal readability. To ensure the display remains in pristine condition, a sapphire crystal protects it. With several layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides, said crystal not only provides great durability levels but clarity levels as well. Measuring a reduced 42mm in diameter, the brushed and polished stainless steel case should suit most writs. Aided by the screw-down crown, this model boasts a water resistance rating of up to 100 metres (10 bar). As well as this, the watch features a stainless steel bezel with Maurice Lacroix’s six ‘claws’ design.

Reliable and precise, a Swiss-made quartz movement powers this Aikon model. Its chronograph features (seconds by central hand, a 30-minutes sub-dial at 9 o’clock, and a 1/1- second sub-dial at 12 o’clock), ensure that accurate timekeeping is always on the cards. For a sleek and sophisticated finish, a stainless steel bracelet secures the watch to the wrist. Consistent with all Aikon models, the watch is compatible with Maurice Lacroix’s Easy Strap Exchange system; no matter what situation you find yourself in, this watch is prepared for them all.

A sapphire crystal, with a double anti-reflective coating, frames the dial. Not only does this showcase the watch’s great clarity levels, but durability levels too. Measuring 42mm in diameter, a brushed and polished bronze case frames the dial. As well as this, an eye-catching bronze bezel with Maurice Lacroix’s infamous six “claws” design. Due to the properties of bronze, the case will develop a unique patina over time; no two watches will look the same. The watch is also water-resistant up to 200 metres (20 bar).

An integrated vintage brown leather strap concludes the design of this refined timepiece with an urban edge. Similar to the case, its bronze pin buckle clasp will develop a patina over time.

It’s time to shine, and with this Fiaba on your wrist, you’re more than ready to do so. Its beautiful blush pink dial exhibits rhodium-plated Arabic numerals and tear-shaped indices and hands.
