The Dial and Movement

Inspired by the crystal-clear waters of the Greek Ionian Islands, the patterned dial of this watch is blue with a gradient design. From light blue to white, the colour blend is reminiscent of white sandy beaches and the vibrant sea. Typical of a diver’s watch, strong LumiBrite baton indices and hands adorn the dial; they ensure great legibility, even when underwater. Furthermore, a date aperture features at 3 o’clock. For optimal clarity and durability, curved sapphire glass, with an anti-reflecting coating on its inner surface, protects the dial. Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; and thanks to these features, this model makes no exceptions.

This Europen exclusive features an in-house, 6R35 calibre, automatic movement. Accurate to -15/+25 seconds per day, it provides the watch with an impressive 70-hour power reserve. Sure to never let you down, due to its great reliability, this Seiko is a great companion for both under and above water wear.

The Case and Finishing Touches

The shape of this European exclusive echoes Seiko’s, and Japan’s, first-ever diving watch from 1965. This watch marked the beginning of Seiko’s watchmaking pursuit for diving reliability, safety and professional specifications. So paying homage to it through this all-new Prospex 1965 Recreation is only fitting. Speaking of diving reliability and safety, a dark blue unidirectional rotating bezel frames the dial. The bezel only rotates anticlockwise, so it provides great safety. If it is accidentally moved underwater, it would only shorten the remaining dive time instead of lengthening it. In addition to this, a stainless steel case frames the dial. Measuring 40.5mm in diameter, it is an inclusive size that sits comfortably on most wrists. Overleaf, the screw-down case back features an engraving of the limited edition number; showcasing the watch’s rarity and exclusivity. Moreover, aided by the screw-down crown, the watch is water-resistant up to 200 metres.

A stainless steel bracelet, with a three-fold clasp with a secure lock and extender, secures the limited edition watch to the wrist. Sleek and sophisticated, it is the perfect finishing touch to this island-inspired timepiece. But, if you’re after a more sporty look, fear not as this watch also comes with a white silicone strap. Both are ideal for diving in any location, so rather it is down to personal preference as to which strap you choose.
