Today, Longines is bringing this exciting heritage back to life with watches from its Heritage Aviation range; the Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition being the newest addition. Dark, powerful and undeniably charismatic, if you want to discover more about this timepiece, keep reading!
The New Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition
The Dial and Movement
Keeping true to a traditional pilot’s watch design, the matte black dial exudes simplicity. With no complications, other than a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, it is extremely easy-to-read. Further enhancing this readability, the engraved Arabic numerals and PVD grey polished hands both feature a Swiss Super-LumiNova coating. Providing illumination in the dark, they ensure the time is always visible; no matter if you’re in the cockpit or on terra firma. Scratch-resistant, and with several layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides, a sapphire crystal protects the dial. Not only does it provide excellent clarity, but durability too.
The new Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition features a reliable L893 calibre. An automatic movement that beats at 25’200 vibrations per hour, it has a monocrystalline silicon balance spring which offers superior magnetic resistance. In addition to this, it boasts an impressive power reserve of up to 72 hours. All of this makes for an extremely precise movement, hence it makes total sense that the watch is chronometer-certified by COSC.
The Case and Finishing Touches
To ensure the watch makes an impact on the wrist, a 43mm titanium case frames the dial. Alongside this is a bi-directional rotating bezel and a screw-in crown. Although titanium is lightweight, it is extraordinarily strong. Resistant to dents and bends that can occur with daily wear, it makes for a incredibly durable watch. Overleaf, the military-brushed case back features an engraving of the collection name and a ‘One of 1935’ limited edition mark. Moreover, like its stainless steel counterpart, it is water-resistant up to 100 metres (10 bars). Sporty and suitable for daily wear, this Longines pilot’s watch is ready for any challenge.
Concluding the design of this watch is a rugged black synthetic strap with a pin buckle. Dark and monochromatic, it complements the dial and case perfectly. For an added touch, the watch is presented in a limited edition box. A black cushion houses the watch and underneath it lies a special plaque with ‘Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition’ engraved onto it.
