Today, Longines has introduced new HydroConquest GMT watches. With a selection of five 43mm models, this new release complements the 41mm models that launched last year. All models retain the same characteristics as the previous launch. However, they now suit a wider range of wrist sizes. While maintaining the classic HydroConquest design, the new watches add yet even more functionality to the beloved range. The New 43mm HydroConquest GMT Watches
The Case and Dial
Protecting the core of each watch is a sturdy stainless steel case. Increasing the original size by 2mm, each case measures 43mm in diameter. As well as providing the watch with a more striking appearance, the larger case means the watch will suit a more varied range of wrist sizes; those with small wrists can have an oversized look while those with larger wrists can have a snug fit. The screw-down case back, printed with the winged Longines logo, aids the watch’s impressive 300 metres of water resistance.
The 43mm HydroConquest watches come in three different colours: black (L38904569 and L38904566), green (L38904066) and blue (L38904966 and L38904969). While the colour pathway varies, the layout of the dials and the way they are complicated is the same across the whole range. Adorning each dial is a mix of luminescent baton and dot indices as well as four hands for hours, minutes, seconds and GMT. Arabic numerals sit on the outer section of the dial and act as the indices for the GMT hand. For added clarity, the unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel also exhibits Arabic numerals. A date display replaces the hour-marker at 3 o’clock. Concluding the design is a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. With several layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides, it provides great clarity.
The GMT Function, Movement and Finishing Touches
Equipped with a GMT complication, the new HydroConquest models allow you to read the time in two time zones simultaneously. This is indicated through the central arrow-head hand, which extends to a ring of 24-hour indices. On the green dial, the arrow-head has a black outline, on the blue dial it has a light blue outline and on the black dial it has a red outline.
Beating at the heart of each HydroConquest GMT is a Longines exclusive L844 automatic calibre movement. It boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve and has a frequency of 25’200 vibrations per hour. In addition, the calibre is equipped with a silicon balance spring and innovative components made of non-magnetic materials. This ensures that each model is more than 10 times more resistant to magnetic fields than the ISO 764 standards.
Completing the design of each watch is a stainless steel bracelet with a double-security folding clasp. However, the black (L38904569) and blue (L38904969) are also available with the option of a rubber strap. If you want a more classy look, the stainless steel bracelet is the better match, but if you want to embrace the sportiness of a diver’s watch then the rubber strap is more suited.
Combining performance and style with a larger diameter, we believe the new HydroConquest GMT models will be a great success. What did you think of this new Longines launch? Could you see yourself wearing a HydroConquest GMT? Let us know in the comments!
