To kick off the new watch year, Laco presents a reissue of its Ulm and Würzburg pilot watches! Already demonstrating in previous models that successful design works in multiple sizes, the German watch manufacturer has introduced an additional case size; a reduced diameter of 39mm. But for those who appreciate more striking models, the option of the classic 42.5mm still remains. All four timepieces in this relaunch follow a sporty yet elegant look. So no matter where you go, you can always look stylish! If you’re in the market for a new pilot watch, keep reading to discover more about the reissue of Laco’s Ulm and Würzburg models.

The Case and Dial
All four models feature a matte black dial with a small second sub-dial at 6 o’clock. Both Ulm models follow a ‘type A’ dial with a pilot watch triangle at 12 o’clock. Whereas the Würzburg watches are inspired by the ‘type B’ dial and the outer minute track surrounds the inner hour circle. For maximum contrast, the Arabic numerals and baton indices on the models are treated with C3 Super-LumiNova. Moreover, the hands of each watch are thermally blued and filled with C3 Super-LumiNova for optimal readability. Any reflections that could impact time reading are reduced by the internally anti-reflective sapphire crystal which protects each dial.
A polished and sandblasted stainless steel case frames the dial of each watch. However, the case size varies. A reduced diameter of 39mm for the Ulm (862172) and Würzburg (862173) is best suited for those with narrower wrists. While the classic diameter of 42.5mm for the Ulm (862118.2) and Würzburg (862119.2) is ideal for those who prefer a more striking look.
The Movement and Finishing Touches
Laco’s first-rate German engineering ensures that all of these watches are powered by high-quality and precise hand-wound movements. For the classic 42.5mm models, it is an ETA 6498.2 calibre, whereas for the smaller 39mm variant, it is the compact Swiss Sellita SW261 calibre. Both movements are presented through a large sapphire crystal case back; the wearer can observe and enjoy. In addition, both movements exhibit traditional features such as bridges with Côtes de Genève and thermically blued screws.
Completing the classic and elegant look of the four pilot watches is a brown strap made of smooth leather. To ensure great security on the wrist, it fastens with a stainless steel buckle. Moreover, each watch has a water resistance of 100 metres. So no matter if you’re in the cockpit or on terra firma, both versions of the Ulm and Würzburg are great companions for everyday wear.
