The All-New ProPilot GMT (01 798 7773 4268-07 3 20 14GLC)
Oris is no stranger to crafted perfectly formed pilot’s watches as the brand has been specialising in this style of timepiece for more than a century. This latest model is equipped with both a second-time zone feature and a pulsometer scale, ensuring the wearer is always prepared. The now iconic ProPilto takes Oris’s famous Big Crown into a new territory. Oris states that the ProPilot “mixes materials, finished and functions to deliver ultra-reliable contemporary pilot’s watches”. So, if you have been searching for an incredibly reliable, yet very elegant, pilot’s watch this could be the one for you.
The Dial and Movement
The new watch exhibits a high-contrast red gradient dial. This shade of red has been specifically selected as the colour is said to represent adventure, perfectly capturing the spirit of the ProPilot GMT. The dial features white Arabic indices that are finished with a bright lume, ensuring the dial is visible in all lights. The silver hour and minute hands, as well as the black second hand, are also treated with Superluminova. The dial also featured a red-tipped black GMT hand and a date aperture. Domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, increasing the durability of the timepiece. This model is powered by an Oris 798 automatic movement that provides up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The Case and Finishing Touches
Another intricate feature of this timepiece is found on its bezel. It is adorned with a pulsometer scale used for measuring heart rate. This feature is inspired by Oris’s relationships with some of the world’s most pioneering aeromedical organisations. The case of this watch is made from grey PVD-plated stainless steel. It measures 41.5mm in diameter, ensuring it makes an impact on the wrist. It features a case back made from mineral crystal that exposes the automatic movement within. The timepiece is secured using a black textile strap. The strap features a bold red lining and is secured using Oris’s patented ‘Lift’ clasp. This style of clasp is said to be inspired by commercial airline seatbelt buckles. In addition, the new watch is water resistant up to 10 bar, aided by the screw-in crown feature.
