To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the collection, Sinn surprises its fans with new 356 Pilots. The 356 is a core collection within the Sinn portfolio, which started as an exclusive 300-piece launch in 1996. Designed specifically for the Japanese market, the initial launch was so successful that it became a permanent part of Sinn. Thanks to its truly timeless design, the 356 Pilot remains one of the brand’s most well-loved chronographs even today.
Included in this launch are three models: the limited edition Classic Anniversary, the Classic W, and the Classic AS E. Boasting the same features as the beloved 356 Pilot series, the new models feature a sleek and novel bicompax dial arrangement. Each with its own unique character and colour scheme, there is so much to love about all the new models. Without further ado, let’s delve into the core specifications of the new launches.
The New Sinn 356 Pilots
Sinn 356 Pilot Classic Anniversary Limited Edition Bicompax (38.5mm) Nubuck Wild Boar Leather Straps 356.0742
Striking the perfect balance of technical finesse and aesthetic appeal, the Anniversary model is simply breathtaking. Its focal point is a beautiful anthracite electroplated dial with two rhodium subdials, which create a beautiful cool-tone contrast. The chronographic subdial functions are complete with a scale displaying a quarter of a second, perfect for short-time measurement. Additionally, so that the watch is legible even in limited lighting, the three central hands feature a rhodium-framed luminescent inlay. Moreover, light Arabic numeral indices and their accompanying minute track give the design its cohesive look. For added practicality, the indices are also glazed with a luminescent coating.
Housing this design is a versatile 38.5mm stainless steel case with a satinised finish. On its front, a sapphire crystal with both interior and exterior anti-reflective treatment encloses the dial. Meanwhile, the exhibition case back is also sealed with sapphire glass with one anti-reflective coat on the interior to provide an unobstructed view of the watch’s inner workings. From here, the view can see the SW 510 calibre self-winding movement at the heart of the watch. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour, the movement is also equipped with a mighty 56-hour power reserve. If that wasn’t enough, this calibre is also anti-magnetic as per DIN 8309 and features a stop-seconds function. Due to the case’s sturdy build, it’s protected from water damage up to pressures of 10 bar.
Finally, this model generously comes with two straps. Both nubuck boar leather, the first strap features a light beige colour whilst the second is deeper to match the dial.
Limited to just 500 pieces, you’ll have to act fast to get your hands on this beautiful Anniversary piece. But, we can assure you that it’s worth it.
Sinn 356 Pilot Classic W Bicompax (38.5mm) Matt-Silk White Dial 356.0201 with a Strap or Bracelet
Characterised by its elegant monochrome dial design, the Classic W is the second of the new stunning Sinn launches.
Making for a highly legible design, a matte-silk white dial adorned with two black subdials takes centre stage. As for its functionality, its primary functions include a chronograph, a quarter of a second scale, as well as central hours and minutes. To match the subdials, black-painted Arabic numeral indices encircle the dial whilst three black-framed hands tick away at the dial’s centre. Just like the Anniversary, each of the hands and indices has a luminescent feature to enable readability in the dark.
With the brand’s signature bead-blasted finish, a 38.5mm stainless steel case provides secure housing for both the dial and movement. Shock-proof acrylic glass encloses the front of the watch, whilst a solid case back overleaf solidifies the design. An elite and robust build, the case manages to lock in the 100-metre water and pressure resistance as its limited edition counterpart. Additionally, it features the same SW 510 calibre automatic movement, which has a 56-hour power reserve, stop-seconds as well as impressive anti-magnetism.
Luckily for bracelet fans, there is a choice of two differently finished models available. Pick between either the classic bead-blasted stainless steel bracelet model (356.0201 H-LINK) or alternatively the deep grey nubuck boar leather strap (356.0201 LEATHER) option.
Sinn 356 Pilot Classic AS E Bicompax (38.5mm) Matt-Silk Anthracite Dial 356.0202 with a Strap or Bracelet
Last but by no means least, is the Classic AS E. Whilst its core design is almost identical to the Classic W, the AS E has the benefit of resembling the Anniversary piece’s tone.
At its centre is a beautiful anthracite-to-black gradient dial, which gives the dial a vintage-looking vignette effect. However, unlike its counterparts, this time the model’s black subdials intend to complement the design rather than contrast it. Moreover, its Arabic numeral indices also diverge from the standard of the other two models by taking on a warmer ivory colour. In turn, this colour corresponds with that of the luminescent inlays on the central rhodium hands.
Additionally, its 38.5mm bead-blasted stainless steel casing boasts all of the same benefits as its predecessors, including up to 100 metres of water resistance. Meanwhile, its acrylic glass shields the dial from shock whilst its solid case back protects the rear. Beating at the heart of the model is the anti-magnetic SW 510 self-winding calibre characteristic of the range.
Lastly, the choice of either a bead-blasted stainless steel bracelet model (356.0202 H-LINK) or a beige nubuck boar leather strap (356.0202 LEATHER) model lets you tailor your watch to your preferences.
