In exciting news, today Swatch launched its new Big Bold Irony watches. This launch marks a couple of notable firsts for the brand. The first is that this is the first bout of Big Bold watches made from stainless steel since its initial release in 2019. Additionally, the new Big Bold Irony watches are Swatch’s first ever to use a combination of bioceramic and stainless steel. For those who are unaware, bioceramic is a robust hybrid of ceramic and bio-sourced material which has a silky finish. In combination with stainless steel, this guarantees a sturdy Swatch. Core Specifications of the New Swatch Big Bold Irony Watches
Dial and Case
Some core qualities are universal across the collection. At the centre of each model is a sandblasted stainless steel case that measures 47mm in diameter. At 13.3mm in depth, the case makes a lasting impression on the wrist too.
Framed within it is a brightly coloured skeletonised dial which shows off the inner workings of the watch. A window into your watch’s mechanism is always an exciting novelty for any watch lover. But when injected with the vibrant colours of these new Big Bold Ironys, it’s only even more riveting. To ensure there’s a model for every taste, the watch comes in five different colours: Bolden Yellow, Mint Trim, Azure Blue Daze, Dark Irony and Red Juicy.
Adorning each of the dials are baton indices as well as three central hour, minute, and second hands. For added clarity, each baton hour marker is coupled with an Arabic numeral.
On the Red Juicy (SB07S110) and Mint Trim (SB07S111) models, the hour and minute hands are black. However, on the Dark Irony (SB07S105), Bolden Yellow (SB07S109), and Azure Blue Daze (SB07S106) models, these are silver to stand out better. The second hand on all models takes on the dial’s corresponding accent colour. Additionally, each dial exhibits luminescent features to ensure its readability even in limited lighting.
Colourways
Bolden Yellow (SB07S109) is the first model in the collection. Featuring a sunny yellow accent colour, the watch is bound to raise your mood even on the dullest of days. The bold contrast between the black and the warmth of the yellow creates an unmissable statement on the wrist.
The strikingly cool Mint Trim (SB07S111) colourway features a vibrant turquoise as its accent colour. Its energetic character is contagious, making it the perfect refreshing addition to any look.
A more chilled cousin of the Mint Trim is the Blue Daze (SB07S106). With its tranquil blue lacquered dial accents, it’s more muted than its counterparts. However, its quieter colour scheme doesn’t sacrifice any of its charming Swatch boldness.
For those partial to darker wristwear, the Dark Irony (SB07S105) model is the one for you. Its monochrome design makes it a versatile piece, whilst the size of the watch ensures it takes centre stage. The quintessential timeless timepiece.
Bold and boisterous, the Red Juicy (SB07S110) radiates a strong character. When worn, it has a peppy and powerful presence on the wrist that is perfect for some summertime fun.
Movement and Finishing Touches
Completing each model is a two-tone rubber strap, aside from the Dark Irony (SB07S105) which has a fully black strap. On all other models, the strap’s primary colour corresponds with the dial’s accents. The design is then outlined with a black border which frames the colour. Lastly, securely fastening each of the straps is a stainless steel half buckle.
In classic Swatch fashion, powering each model is a trusty quartz movement.
