MeisterSinger is back with even more simply stunning Pangea models. Renowned for its one-hand designs, German watchmaking brand MeisterSinger bases its designs on the first mediaeval mechanical clocks. It’s one of the only brands to celebrate this heritage and has dedicated its portfolio to reviving the feature. Of course, for any MeisterSinger enthusiast, the name ‘Pangea’ will already ring a bell. Indeed, this may be because of the brand’s award-winning Pangea Day Date, which has received several design accolades including the Red Dot, the German Design and the Good Design awards. However, more seasoned MeisterSinger fans may remember an older Pangea range. Although these classic Pangea models were from several years ago, today MeisterSinger surprised fans with its relaunch. With a refreshing new design and three models to choose from, read on for more about the new Pangea relaunches.
Core Specifications of the New MeisterSinger Pangea Relaunch
Dial and Case
Due to its great success and critical acclaim, the Pangea Day Date lends many of its features to its new cousin. For instance, housing the movement and dial on the new Pangeas is the same stainless steel case as the Day Date. At 40mm in diameter, the case makes the new Pangeas versatile enough for unisex wear. Moreover, featuring a slender profile, it sits elegantly on any wrist size. However, its elegance does not sacrifice its durability. The case successfully seals in 50 metres of water resistance, meaning it can easily keep up with everyday wear. Overleaf, a 6-fold screwed exhibition case back helps to seal this in and shows off the Pangea’s new movement.
At the centre of the watch is a minimalist but timeless dial design. With the option of three different colourways, there’s also a plentiful variety to choose from. Of course, universal across all of the models is the brand’s iconic singular hand. However, each model brings this to life in different ways.
For instance, those partial to a clean dial design will appreciate the simplistic elegance of the white dial (PM9901G) option. Although simple, the gilt Arabic numeral indices add a touch of luxury to the design. The outer blue track and black hand balance this out and allow the gold to take centre stage. With a more sumptuous first impression, the ivory option (PM9903) also features a black hand at its centre. Adorning the outer ring of the dial are matching black Arabic numerals and batons. The third and final colourway is the sunburst blue dial (PM9908), which immediately catches the eye. White indices and a white central hand contrast its colour, and in turn, make the dial easy to read.
Movement and Finishing Touches
One of the new features of the Pangea relaunch is its movement. Modified especially for MeisterSinger’s one-hand design, a Sellita automatic movement powers each watch. The movement is the SW 300 calibre, which has a power reserve of 42 hours. With its German design and Swiss-made movement, you really get the best of both worlds with the new Pangea.
Moreover, contributing to the luxury no-frills feel of each watch is their classic straps. Each colourway in the range comes with its own leather strap with a crocodile texture. On the blue (PM9908) and white dial (PM9901G) models, the strap is a warm, cognac brown colour. Meanwhile, the ivory (PM9903) dial’s strap features dark brown leather.
With its simplicity, balance and clarity, the new Pangea relaunches are incredibly promising. But what do you think of the new MeisterSinger Pangea relaunches? Be sure to voice your opinions in the comments below.
