Continuing its legacy as the cinema watch brand, today Hamilton announced its feature in the upcoming Indiana Jones film. The brand’s Boulton model will be worn by Jones himself in the fifth and final instalment of the franchise: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Originally released in the 1940s, the Boulton is part of the brand’s American Classic collection and has a distinctive antique appearance. With the film mainly taking place in 1944, the watch is the perfect fit. However, to ensure the design is true to the era, the featured model has been reworked with assistance from the film’s prop team.
In addition to the Boulton, Indiana Jones’s loyal companion Renaldo will also wear a Hamilton. Renaldo’s timepiece will be a custom-made Khaki Navy Scuba.
This isn’t Hamilton’s first silver screen appearance. For almost 90 years, the brand has made appearances in smash-hit blockbusters such as the Men In Black franchise, Interstellar (2014), and Independence Day (2016). In fact, the Hamilton website even has a full section dedicated to these ‘movie watches’.
Both Hamilton and the beloved adventurer are due to return to the big screen on 30th June.
Indiana Jones’s Hamilton American Classic Boulton Quartz (27mm) White Dial / Brown Calf Leather H13431553
Effortlessly blending Swiss timekeeping precision with quintessential American aesthetics, this Hamilton Boulton reimagines the brand’s most popular watches from the 1940s. The collection was later brought back in the 1980s with additions to adapt it to modern style. These alterations included revised proportions and a slightly reshaped case. However, due to the subtlety of these changes, the model still has its characteristic 1940s charm.
Adorning its rectangular white dial are gold indices with matching gold central hour and minute hands. At the 6 o’clock position, there is a small seconds subdial which also features a gold hand. Bordering the design is a classical railroad ring to track minutes. This feature is very typical of the time period and gives the watch its vintage feel.
To frame the dial, a yellow-gold PVD-plated stainless steel case holds the design in place. Adding to the Boulton’s charm, the petite case measures just 31.6mm by 27mm. It fits elegantly to the wrist with a thickness of 7.8mm. Completing the model is a brown calf leather strap, which fastens to the wrist with a pin buckle. From lug to lug, its width is 18mm.
Features such as the scratch-resistant sapphire glass ensure the model is durable and fit for everyday wear. Moreover, the brand’s in-house 980.163 calibre quartz movement ensures that the watch is highly accurate.
