Exciting news for those who want to invest in a summer smartwatch! Today, Garmin announced two new exciting launches: a second generation epix™ Pro and a new fēnix® 7 Pro.
Both of these collections feature several new features, such as a flashlight function. In addition to upgrading to a stunning sapphire AMOLED display, the epix™ Pro has also expanded its size range to include 42mm and 51mm models. Meanwhile, the new fēnix 7 Pro range advances the brand’s top-quality solar charging technology and refines built-in sports functions.
Without further ado, let’s get stuck into more of the exciting new features of the epix™ Pro and fēnix 7 Pro.
Garmin epix™ Pro (Gen 2)
Case and Dial
The new generation epix Pro effortlessly conquers its competition. With its scratch-resistant sapphire AMOLED display, prioritising your mental and physical well-being has never looked so good. This screen is securely set into a fibre-reinforced polymer case equipped with a steel cover on the rear. Moreover, to accommodate each individual need, the epix Pro now comes with three different case sizes: 42mm, 47mm, and 51mm. On each model, a robust titanium bezel frames the dial display and seals the watch with an extra layer of protection.
In-built Functions
Of course, a Garmin watch’s exhaustive functionality can never be faulted. The epix Pro’s new built-in LED flashlight ensures that you keep yourself safe during nighttime training. Easily tailored to any requirement, the flashlight can be set at various intensities and even has a strobe setting.
In addition, the epix Pro both expands and hones the brand’s existing portfolio of sports applications. A new hill score feature measures your strength and uphill performance whilst gauging your progress over time. Moreover, epix Pro models also offer a new endurance score that combines all your athletic data to provide you with an overall stamina overview. Functions such as the inbuilt morning report and training readiness help you prepare for your sessions through thorough analysis. Its 24/7 HRV tracking and Pulse Ox also means you can stay on top of your health at all times. With its wealth of activity profiles, top-of-the-range activity sensors, ultra-precise SatIQ™ navigation technology, and preloaded TopoActive maps of everything from ski resorts to golf courses, there is little the epix Pro cannot do.
Beyond its generous sports functionality, the epix Pro also has other smart applications such as synced notifications, music storage, and more.
Battery Life and Finishing Touches
Across all the different-sized models, the battery life is very impressive. Each watch can last weeks without any need for recharging. At its best, the battery is able to last up to 31 days on 51mm case models. This is followed by 16 days on 47mm models and 10 days on 42mm models. However, when GPS is activated, this is slightly less.
As smartwatches are designed for consistent everyday wear, aesthetic excellence is more than important. Luckily, this epix Pro generation boasts a wide variety of colourways. Some of our favourites include the soft gold and sand version (010-02802-11), the grey and black (010-02804-01), and the whitestone (010-02803-21). Finishing many of these models is a classic rubber strap, but for some models, there is also a leather strap option. These include the carbon grey edition in 47mm (010-02803-30) and the carbon grey and chestnut colourway in 51mm (010-02804-30). Moreover, one of the 42mm soft gold colourways has a heathered nylon strap (010-02802-20) to ensure ultimate comfort.
Garmin fēnix 7 Pro
Case and Dial
Undoubtedly, the fēnix 7 Pro continues the collection’s reign as the ultimate sports smartwatch. Designed with the demanding athlete in mind, you can rely on the fēnix 7 Pro to be the ultimate training partner. Its resilient fibre-reinforced polymer case features a sturdy titanium bezel and is available in three different sizes. The fēnix 7S Pro at 42mm in diameter and the largest is the fēnix 7X Pro at 51mm. Providing a solid middle ground is the standard fēnix 7 Pro which measures 47mm in diameter. Each of the dial displays is also encased by a PowerSapphire™ glass which absorbs light to power the watch. Moreover, the glass is also scratch resistant to shield the watch from any training wounds.
In-built Functions
The multisport fēnix 7 Pro has extensive performance-enhancing applications. Like the epix Pro, it comes with the new hill and endurance scores as well as the new LED flashlight. Moreover, the morning report and training readiness capabilities allow you to plan your workouts on the fēnix 7 Pro too. Built for outdoor adventure, it also has an exhaustive TopoActive map repository and Up Ahead navigation prompts. Enhancing these navigation abilities is the multi-band GPS with SatIQ™ technology which allows ultra-precise tracking. In addition to its PacePro technology, sleep tracker, and HRV status, the fēnix 7 Pro also has a multitude of activity profiles.
Whether you’re off the grid or not, the synced notification functions allow you to stay connected to your smartphone. Alternatively, disconnect during your sessions with the in-built music storage.
Battery Life and Finishing Touches
Better than ever, the solar-powered technology that energises the fēnix 7 Pros is both sustainable and highly capable. On the mighty 7X, the battery life can last as long as 37 days or 122 hours in GPS mode. But even its smallest model, the 7S, manages an impressive 14 days in smartwatch mode or 46 hours of GPS.
Strap-wise, the fēnix 7 Pro boasts even more variety than the epix Pro. There is a generous choice between a classic rubber band, a leather strap, or even a meal bracelet. To this end, there’s also a beautiful choice of colours to pick from. These include but are not limited to carbon grey and black (010-02777-11), fog grey and orange (010-02778-15), chestnut (010-02777-30), metal (010-02778-30) and limestone-cream (010-02776-30).
