Today, Seiko announce the Masked Rider watch. This brand-new timepiece is limited to just 4,000 pieces making it especially collectable for fans of the Seiko brand and the Masked Rider series. The Seiko 5 Sports Masked Rider Watch SRPJ91K1
The design of this brand-new limited-edition timepiece takes inspiration from the 1968 ‘Hongo Model’. This was the watch that was worn by Takeshi Hongo who was the main character from ‘Masked Rider’. The dial and indices of the watch have been retained from the original, but have been subtly updated with modern SKX design and reinterpretation.
The timepiece takes the form of Seiko’s iconic 5 Sports. This collection of watches is known for over fifty years of reliability, durability, performance and value. The ‘5’ in the name stands for the five key features that each of the timepieces is built with: an automatic movement, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet.
The Dial and Movement
The dial of this timepiece has been specially selected to match the colour of the Masked Rider”s face mask. It is adorned with luminous baton indices and hands. The second hand is a vibrant red shade to ensure it is easy to track around the dial. A day-date display is positioned at three o’clock. The dial and its features are protected by Hardlex crystal for a long-lasting and durable finish. The watch is powered by an automatic calibre 4R36 movement. This movement provides the watch with a power reserve of up to 41 hours.
The Case and Finishing Touches
A stainless steel case safely houses the movement that powers this timepiece. It measures 42.5mm in diameter and 13.4mm in depth. This case size creates an eye-catching and comfortable fit on the wrist. The case back is detailed with the Tachibana racing club logo from the bike in the programme. The watch is finished with a black-grained leather strap that is detailed with a red underside. This flash of colour is inspired by the character’s scarf. In addition, this timepiece is water resistant up to 100 metres ensuring it can be worn no matter the occasion.
