Today, Seiko announces limited edition Kabuki watches. This exciting launch consists of two brand-new models in a unique, eye-catching design. These two special designs are part of the brand’s iconic Presage Sharp Edged series, well-known for its elegant style and high-quality design. The new models flawlessly combine modern watchmaking with traditional Japanese heritage to create a beautiful collector’s item.
Seiko’s Presage Kabuki Limited Edition Watches
These latest additions to Seiko’s portfolio are inspired by the classical form of the Japanese dance drama named Kabuki. The art of Kabuki theatre is best known for its heavily stylised performances. The style is known for its glamorous costumes and elaborate makeup. Seiko has considered all of these traits of the art and has incorporated them into the design of these brand-new timepieces. This is most notably featured in the dial of each watch. The rich red colour used in the design is the colour of the costumes worn by Kabuki masters. This colour is also featured on the lining of both watch straps. Another nod to Kabuki is the dial pattern, which is believed to bring growth and success. This design was featured on Kabuki costumes in the Edo period, with the ancient hemp print having been seen since the Heian period.
