Seiko has launched three all-new Seiko Presage Style 60’s watches this week. These new timepieces are all practical modern watches with retro vintage 1960s looks. The unique style of these timepieces makes them unique from many others in Seiko’s portfolio, making them the perfect choice for someone searching for something a bit different. Each of the three watches in this launch has a very different appearance, ensuring that there is something for everyone in this exciting collection.
The Seiko Presage Style 60s Collection
These new watches take the shape of the iconic Presage. The Presage is characterised by a timeless look and precise mechanical timekeeping. These distinctive features have been included in the striking designs of these new timepieces. The watches have a minimalist design with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic. This new collection is inspired by the design of the ‘Crown Chronograph’ that was originally released by Seiko in 1964. This original model celebrated an important sporting event in Tokyo. The ‘Crown Chronograph’ was Seiko’s and Japan’s first wristwatch that was equipped with a stopwatch function. This huge innovative step marked the start of Seiko’s chronograph wristwatch manufacturing journey.
The Watches
Seiko Presage Style 60s “Denim” SSA453J1
This model may be considered the dress watch of this collection. This model features a blue dial that is decorated with a sub-dial and a cut-out feature. This cut-out exposes the calibre 4R39 automatic movement that powers the watch. This movement provides the timepiece with up to 41 hours of power reserve. The dial is also adorned with simple baton indices and silver hour, minute and second hands which allow the time to be read at a glance. These features are protected by a box-shaped Hardlex crystal that furthers the vintage aesthetic of this vintage-inspired timepiece. A stainless steel case surrounds the dial. It measures 40.8mm in diameter and 14.32mm in depth to create a comfortable fit on the wrist. This watch is secured using a vintage-style brown suede effect strap.
Seiko Presage Style 60s “Ruby” SRPH93J1
The bold contrast between the off-white dial and red bezel of this watch ensures that this model is incredibly eye-catching on the wrist. The off-white dial is adorned with baton indices alongside silver hour, minute and second hands. This dial also features a date aperture, ensuring that the wearer is well-informed. Box-shaped Hardlex glass protects this style, giving the watch a distinctive aesthetic. A 40.8mm stainless steel case houses the calibre 4R35 automatic movement that powers the watch. The movement can provide up to 41 hours of power reserve, meaning that the wearer will never be caught without the time. This model has a very classic and versatile look which is aided by the traditional stainless steel bracelet. This bracelet means that the watch can be paired with any outfit for any occasion.
Seiko Presage Style 60s “Stealth” SRPH95J1
The mostly black-coloured palette of this watch is what inspired its name. The “Stealth” watch is designed in elegant shades of black and grey, making it versatile and sleek to wear. The black dial is decorated with Lumibrite hour markers and hands. This ensures that the time can be easily read, even in the dark. The features of the dial are protected by vintage-style box-shaped Hardlex crystal.
The case of this watch is made from stainless steel that has been treated with a black hard coating to provide it with its distinctive colour and give the watch some extra durability. This model is powered by a calibre 4R35 automatic movement that provides up to 41 hours of power reserve. Additionally, this model is water resistant up to 5 bar. The watch is secured on the wrist using a black leather NATO-style strap to complete the sleek, all-black look of this timepiece.
