This week, all-new Seiko SKX re-interpretation watches have been added to the brand’s ever-expanding portfolio. The launch consists of two new models that are designed in Seiko’s popular 5 Sports Style design. Since Seiko was first founded in 1881, it has continuously diversified and grown as a brand. Seiko’s watchmakers successfully combine intricate watchmaking skills with elegant design to create unique and stylish timepieces. These two new models deliver the precisely beautiful Japanese aesthetics that a collector desires from their Seiko timepiece in new and exciting designs. The all-new Seiko SKX Re-interpretation watches are an exciting launch for any Seiko watch collectors and fans of the brand.
The New SKX Re-interpretation Watches
The new models use Seiko’s incredibly popular 5 Sports Style design, making them a very desirable item for collectors of the brand’s watches. The 5 Sports is known for over 50 years of reliability, durability, performance and value, making them a fantastic addition to any collection. The ‘5’ in the name stands for the five key traits of these timepieces. Each watch in the collection promises an automatic movement, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet.
These new models are a re-interpretation of the 1990s Seiko SKX watches. However, the 1990s models were an updated and modernised version of the original 1960s models. This means that the newest release has a long and admirable history. When the 1990s SKX watches were released, they were equipped with enhanced water resistance, strengthened crystal and luminous details. These features remain in this week’s launch, but the new models have been further improved using modern watchmaking technology and knowledge.
The New Models
The two all-new Seiko SKX re-interpretation watches exhibit the same design in two colourways. The first is the ‘Blueberry’ with a blue dial (SSK003K1), and the second is the ‘Black Grape’ which exhibits a black dial (SSK001K1). Each watch has a bicolour bezel in a shade that perfectly matches the dial colour. The bezels are coated in Hardlex to provide a good level of durability.
Each dial is adorned with easy to read luminous indices with a date aperture and a bold red GMT hand. This means that multiple timezone calculations can be made at a glance, making this an ideal timepiece for frequent travellers. The case and bracelet of both models are crafted from stainless steel. The bracelet exhibits a unique ‘Beads of Rice’ design that is reminiscent of precious SKX models. The design is used to form a series of small X-shaped patterns. Additionally, these new models are water-resistant up to 10 bar, making them a great choice for everyday wear.
