In creating the new Pacer Pro, Polar has truly outdone itself. There are 4 watches available in the line, only different by their colour schemes. In an effort to make the watches truly tailored to runners, the brand has stripped back all other fitness features and focused exclusively on the watch’s running and pace functions.
Training Features
One of the most improved features of the Pacer Pro is the ability to calculate your VO2max value without going to a specialised lab. As easy as breathing, the watch will not only help you see your aerobic fitness level but also help you improve it. In addition to the improved VO2max, the watch features an upgraded HR sensor. With a smaller sensor and an improved algorithm, the new HR monitor lets you track the effort required for different training intensities.
The Pacer Pro watches feature many essential running features. Amongst them are a stopwatch, distance tracker, lap timer, an interval timer, pace and time. The Pacer Pro also allows you to compare yourself to other runners within your age range through the running index function. The watch also has a race time predictor, phased training targeting and power zones, a race planner and Training Load Pro™. Every good athlete knows that recovery is just as important as training. Polar has ensured to include a sleep tracker, a nightly recharge feature and the Serene programme to help you wind down and relax after a hard day’s work.
Improved GPS Features
The watch also features an improved GPS due to the new antenna design to improve the accuracy of the data collected. The lightweight design of the case with a plastic ring insert acts as a signal booster. The watch supports a number of satellite systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS. GPS features of the watch include turn-by-turn guidance, route profiles, elevation profiles, back to start navigation and Hill Splitter™. The last feature is specifically designed to help you plan ahead and tailor your pace and speed for the best results.
Hardwear, Design and Battery
The functions of the watches, however, are not the only important element. In order to make these models the ultimate running watch, Polar has kept the design of the watches lightweight. The case is made of plastic and has a bezel made of aerospace aluminium. Protecting the always-on 1.2-inch colour display is a Gorilla Glass crystal. The watches have a large display in order to help with readability during training. Additionally, the display is sunlight-visible making it easy to read in any light conditions, without hindering your workout. The case measures 45 mm in diameter and 11.5 mm in thickness.
The watch’s battery is designed to last up to 7 days on a single charge, 100 hours during training time in power-save modes or up to 35 hours in training mode with GPS and HR enabled. The watch also features fast charging, so even when you do need to charge the watch, it takes only a fraction of the time.
The watch also has improved processing power and internal RAM. It is said to be 2 times faster than the Vantage M2, giving you a smoother performance.
