Oris has launched brand new versions of its iconic ProPilot X models. These all-new Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 models make use of the brand’s latest movement. The brand introduced the Calibre 400 movement last year. It has slowly been added to the designs of the bestselling timepieces. This launch is a collection of three watches. Each model in the launch has a different coloured dial, adding some fun and playful pieces to Oris’ portfolio. These watches have come just in time for the summer months. They will be a great way to add some colour to an accessories collection. The timepieces have all of the class and elegance of a traditional Oris timepiece, but by making use of brighter colours and the impressive Calibre 400 movement, the brand has ensured that they will stand out from the crowd.
The Calibre 400 Movement
The Calibre 400 movement is a relatively new addition to Oris’ portfolio. It was first launched last year and has since been introduced to a select few timepieces. This movement was a big step for Oris as it is the first movement used by the brand that is made entirely in-house. The brand refers to the movement as a “mechanical joy machine” as its sheer elegance will bring great pleasure to horological enthusiasts. The movement is one of a new generation of high-performance automatics, making use of brand new technology to ensure smooth running. It boasts elevated levels of anti-magnetism, a 120-hour power reserve and a 10-year warranty. These features make the watches more suited to modern wear as many people often wear a different watch every day. The brand is very confident in the performance of this movement and states that it is accurate to -3/+5 seconds a day.
The New Watches
The three new timepieces in this launch follow in a long line of Oris pilot’s watches that date back to the 1900s. The ProPilot model is a staple in the brand’s portfolio and deserves a place in any watch collection. The timepieces are available with either a peach dial (01 400 7778 7158-07 7 20 01TLC), a blue dial (01 400 7778 7155-07 7 20 01TLC), or a grey dial (01 400 7778 7153-07 7 20 01TLC). This range of colours ensures that there is a perfect model for every collector.
The dial of each watch features a date aperture alongside baton indices and elegant hour, minute and second hands. Each dial is protected by domed sapphire glass that is treated on both sides with an anti-reflective coating. Sapphire glass is also used to create an exhibition case back that allows the wearer to observe and enjoy the Calibre 400 movement.
The case of each model is made from titanium and measures 39mm in diameter. This size will sit comfortably on the wrist whilst ensuring the dial is large enough to read. A textured bezel surrounds the dial, adding another subtle but very elegant detail to the timepiece. Each model is finished with a classic and timeless titanium bracelet that is fastened using a folding clasp. By using titanium, Oris has made these watches both lightweight and durable. Additionally, these new models are water-resistant up to 100 metres, aided by a screw-in crown.
