Following the success of the previous Seiko Prospex Antarctica models, new Seiko Prospex Antarctica models have been launched by the brand. The new models use Seiko’s popular Monster and Tuna styles to give these watches an iconic silhouette. Both watches are inspired by the landscape of Antarctica. This part of the world is often referred to as the world’s largest marine sanctuary. This title emphasises the importance of working to preserve this beautiful part of the world. The watches both feature a graduated dial design with colours and textures that echo the white and blue colour palette of Antarctica. As with all of the ‘Save the Ocean’ models, Seiko has vowed to donate all proceeds from these new watches to sea conversation and environmental organisations.
The New Seiko Prospex Antarctica Watches
The new models both feature a blue and white dial that is designed to create the effect of light reflecting on the ice of Antarctica. The unique element of these models is the penguin silhouettes that are positioned across the dial. These images represent the dwindling number of penguins in their natural habitat of Antarctica. This detail makes the watches perfect for lovers of nature.
The watches are part of the iconic Seiko Prospex family. The Prospex watches are designed for sports lovers and adventure seekers and are a great companion for day to day life. The watches have a robust design and are built to withstand challenging environments. Both of the new watches are water-resistant up to 200 metres (20 bar).
Seiko Prospex Antarctica Monster ‘Save The Ocean’ SRPH75K1
This new Seiko Prospex Antarctica watch uses the iconic Monster design. This design has been affectionately named ‘Monster’ by fans of the brand due to the fact that the bezel looks like an open-mouthed monster bearing its teeth. The watch features a graduated blue and white dial with penguin silhouettes for a playful touch. The dial features large baton indices and bold hour, minute and second hands. These elements all feature luminescence to ensure that the dial can be seen in the dark. A weekday and date display also features on the dial.
The signature bezel is steel coloured and will rotate in a unidirectional manner. An automatic movement is housed within the stainless steel case. This movement provides the watch with a power reserve of up to 41 hours. This timepiece is secured on the wrist using a classic stainless steel bracelet. This bracelet features a three-fold clasp with a secure lock and push-button release.
Seiko Prospex Antarctica Scuba Tuna ‘Save The Ocean’ SRPH77K1
Seiko fans have affectionately named this design the ‘Tuna’ due to its large diameter and bold shape that is said to resemble a tuna tin. This watch features the same blue and white dial with penguin silhouettes as the Monster version. This dial exhibits round hour markers with hour, minute and second hands that are all luminescent. Hardlex crystal is used to protect the dial. A date aperture is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock to ensure that it does not distract from the dial design. A statement unidirectional bezel frames the dial and a stainless steel case frames it. This watch is powered by an automatic movement with a power reserve of up to 41 hours. The watch is finished with a blue silicone strap. The eye-catching blue shade perfectly complements that of the dial and the silicone will ensure that the watch is comfortable to wear when wet.
