A few weeks ago, James Moore Jewellers of Kenilworth celebrated its 25th anniversary. The jewellery shop has been a core element of the independent shopping scene in its home of Kenilworth for over two decades. Over the years, James Moore Jewellers has developed an online presence named First Class Watches. It has continued to grow and has been a source of great success. James Moore Jewellers celebrated this amazing occasion by hosting an in store event.
Members of the public were invited along to celebrate with prosecco, chocolates and mince pies. The main event was a raffle with some staggering prizes. Additionally, on the day of the event in-store shoppers were offered a fantastic 25% discount on all full price items. This discount was well-received, especially in the Christmas shopping season. Most importantly, the profits raised from the raffle were donated to Papyrus. The event was incredibly successful and made an admirable amount of money to give to charity, all whilst celebrating an important milestone in the history of James Moore Jewellers. Additionally, on the day of the event in-store shoppers were offered a fantastic 25% discount on all full price items. This discount was well-received, especially in the Christmas shopping season.
The Prizes
A raffle was held in order to raise money for the shop’s charity of choice, Papyrus. The raffle tickets were sold both online and in-store in the weeks leading up the event. This extended the opportunity to both members of the local public and to a wider audience shopping on both the James Moore Jewellers and First Class Watches website.
The first prize in the raffle was a stunning halo diamond ring worth £2000. The ring was an incredible prize and a great incentive to buy a raffle ticket in aid of a wonderful charity. The second prize was a Luminox wristwatch (XB.3729.NGU) that was kindly gifted by the brand. The watch was from the Bear Grylls Survival collection and was in a bold red and black colour scheme. The timepiece is worth over £400, making it a fantastic second prize. The third prize in the raffle was a large goodie bag that contained many lovely treats, including a silver bracelet.
The Charity
Papyrus is a charity that is dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer amongst people under the age of 35. To try and help with this, Papyrus is working towards a society which speaks openly about suicide. They also provide resources for young people who may be having suicidal thoughts. The charity was founded in 1997 by Jean Kerr who lost her son to suicide. The charity was originally named the ‘Parents’ Association for the Prevention of Young Suicide’ but has since been abbreviated to Papyrus.
Papyrus works to support young people who are having suicidal thoughts by offering confidential support and advice. Additionally, the charity works with local councils, healthcare professionals and school staff to equip them with suicide prevention skills. The charity hopes to influence society into destigmatising talking about mental health and suicidal thoughts. Papyrus is an active member of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy Advisory Group in England and use their influence to help young people all over the country.
A Great Success
The event was a huge success with a great many members of the local public joining us at the shop to celebrate the 25th anniversary of James Moore Jewellers. Many raffle tickets were sold both online and in-store. The raffle winners were all very happy with their prizes and everyone had a lovely time celebrating. The raffle raised a whopping £1000 for Papyrus. This charity does very important work, so any support that can be offered makes a massive difference. Everyone at James Moore Jewellers is thrilled with how successful the event was and the amazing amount of money that we were able to donate to charity.
