Hamilton have launched the all new Hamilton PSR MTX watch inspired by The Matrix. This brand new timepiece is an exciting launch for the brand as is said that it was designed in close collaboration with Warner Bros. The entire design of the watch is meticulously in keeping with the dark and mysterious aesthetic of the The Matrix franchise. Hamilton have launched the watch in celebration of the latest instalment in the The Matrix franchise, ‘The Matrix Resurrection’. This timepiece would be the perfect choice for fans of Hamilton’s iconic movie watches or for someone who loves the The Matrix films.
The new watch is a limited edition model making it an especially desirable and collectable timepiece. The watch is limited to just 1999 pieces worldwide. This number has been specifically chosen to honour the premier date of the original The Matrix film. The timepiece uses Hamilton’s well loved PSR design to ensure that the watch is durable and practical. The futuristic style and minimalistic design of the watch make it a perfect choice for daily wear.
The Dial
This watch uses a hybrid digital display. This mean that the time is displayed using lit up numbers rather than hands. This ensures that the time is easy to read at a glance, and provides the watch with an added touch of futuristic design. The display used both green LCD and OLED to ensure that the dial is eye-catching. Hamilton traditionally use red lights in its PSR watches, making this model especially unusual as it uses green lights in its display. The OLED is operated using the oval shaped pusher that is positioned on the side of the case. The dial is protected by sapphire glass that has been treated with an anti-reflective coating. Sapphire glass is a very durable material that is resistant to scratching. Additionally, the anti-reflective coating means that the dial will be easy to read in bright light conditions.
The Case and Movement
A black PVD plated stainless steel case frames the dial. The black PVD plating provides this timepiece with the dark, all-black colour scheme that perfectly reflects the aesthetic of the film franchise. This case is a rounded rectangular shape. It measures 40.8mm in width and 34.7mm in height. To ensure for comfortable wear on the wrist, the case measures 13.3mm in thickness. Unusually, the case back is a key design feature on this timepiece. The case back is inscribed with the immediately recognisable digital rain pattern from the The Matrix film. However, Hamilton have adapted this pattern to include important details about the watch without interrupting the sleek design of the timepiece. Information such as the limited edition serial number is disguised within the digital rain design. A digital quartz movement powers this watch and is houses inside this stainless steel case.
The Finishing Touches
The watch is secured on the wrist using a black PVD plated stainless steel bracelet. This bracelet perfectly matches the case and continues the moody all-black colour scheme. The bracelet flares to a wider width as it approaches the case, culminating with a lug width of 24mm. This means that the smooth lines of the watch are not interrupted, allowing for a flawless finish. Additionally, this timepiece is water resistant up to 100 metres (10 bar), making it suitable for every day wear.
