MeisterSinger have launched the stunning MeisterSinger Edition Planet Earth watch to celebrate the beauty of our planet. This brand new model is incredibly eye-catching and would make a statement addition to any watch collection. The overall concept of this timepiece is focused on sustainability to mark MeisterSinger’s partnership with the WWF. The brand has stated that the aim of this project was to try to increase the growing number of people aiming towards a truly sustainable economy and considerate use of the planet’s resources. In an effort to contribute to this worthwhile cause, MeisterSinger and its business partners have vowed to waive an equal share of €200 for every watch sold as a donation to the WWF. The WWF is committed to preserving the Earth’s biodiversity, promoting sustainable use of natural resources and reducing environmental pollution and wasteful consumption, making it a very worthy cause.
Sustainability is a cause that is very close to MeisterSinger’s heart as it is very important to the brand’s founder, Manfred Brassler. The brand’s hometown is the city of Münster in Germany. This city is famed for its plentiful green spaces and commitment to environmental protection. In order to maintain the philosophies of the city, Brassler has incorporated them into the design of this new watch. The timepiece is limited edition with only 500 pieces available worldwide. This makes it very desirable and collectable.
The Dial
The dial is the most eye-catching and intriguing element of this bold timepiece. The dial is jet black in colour to ensure that all of the details stand out. A photorealistic image of planet Earth is set at the centre of the dial. This images replicated the experience of seeing the breathtaking view of our planet from space. This unusual perspective will encourage the wearer to truly appreciate the planet.
The dial is adorned with MeisterSinger’s iconic single hand. The brand use this unique method of displaying time to encourage the wearer to simply experience the passing of time rather than tracking every second of it. The hours are denoted by double digit Arabic indices. Dot indices are placed between each hour marker to show half hour periods. This watch also features a date display. The dates encircle the image of the Earth and a small red arrow on the image will point to the correct date at the disc rotates.
The Case and Movement
The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal lens. This will protect it from knocks, bumps and scratches to ensure to aid in the durability of the watch. A stainless steel case frames the dial. It is made from stainless steel. The case measures 43mm in diameter and 11.5mm in height. This case size will ensure that the dial is large enough that the unusual dial design stands out on the wrist. The case features an exhibition case back that is secured with a 6-screwed design. The glass is decorated with the WWF lettering and iconic panda logo. This feature allows the wearer to observe and appreciate the automatic Sellita SW400 movement that powers the watch. This movement uses 26 jewels and 28800 semi oscillations per hour to power the watch. This provides the watch with a power reserve of up to 38 hours.
The Finishing Touches
To maintain the environmentally conscious philosophies of this collaborative watch, MeisterSinger have designed a vegan watch strap. The black leather-look strap of this watch is made from apple fibers. This unusual material provides all of the elegance and style of a traditional leather watch strap, but can be worn in the knowledge that it is far more sustainable and ethical. The strap is detailed with bold orange top stitching.
This watch is water resistant up to 50 metres (5 bar), meaning that it will be resilient against the small splashes of water it may encounter with daily wear. Additionally, these limited edition timepieces are made entirely unique as each one is individually numbered. This means that the collector will always have a reminder of just how special and unique their MeisterSinger Edition Planet Earth watch is.
