BALL have released a new model as part of the iconic Engineer II collection. This watch combines classic looks, natural elegance and unparalleled performance in the same way as the other Engineer II watches, but with the contemporary twist of an all-black colour scheme. The Engineer II models are incredibly technical and powerful watches that each exhibit a sleek and nimble design. The BALL Engineer II Skindiver Heritage watch is a limited edition with only 390 pieces available worldwide, making it a very desirable and collectable timepiece.
The Dial
This all-black model features a black dial with a weekday and date aperture positioned at 3 o’clock. The hour, minute and second hands are silver, and the second hand has a yellow tip. This makes it easier for the wearer to keep track of shorter time periods. The watch exhibits 31 micro gas tubes on the bezel, hour, minute and second hands, and the dial. The black dial comes to life in the dark as the gas tubes light up in multicoloured hues to add a fun and vibrant look to the watch. These gas tubes use cutting edge technology by encapsulating H3 gas. When the gas molecules hit the surface of the coloured tubes, they emit light without the need for any other energy source.
The dial is protected by anti-reflective, domed sapphire glass. The anti-reflective treatment ensures that the dial can be read under bright lights. A black unidirectional rotating bezel surrounds the dial. It is designed to have good grip so that it is easy to operate underwater.
The Case
A stainless steel case frames the black dial. To continue the all-black colour scheme, the case is treated with a black titanium carbide coating. It measures 42mm in diameter and 14.6mm in height. The case features an exhibition case back that is made from sapphire glass. This allows the wearer to view the powerful movement within and enjoy watching its precise movements. The case also benefits from a screw in crown that allows the watch to be water resistant up to 200 metres (20 bar).
The Movement
The BALL Engineer II Skindiver Heritage watch is powered by BALL automatic calibre RR1102. This movement uses 28,800 vibrations per hour to provide the watch with a power reserve of up to 38 hours. It is anti-magnetic to 4,800 A/m and shock resistant to 5000 Gs.
The Finishing Touches
This watch comes with two different strap options. Both choices complement the contemporary all-black colour scheme of the watch. The first option is a black rubber strap (DM3208B-P4-BK) that fastens with a pin buckle. This option will be excellent for underwater wear as it will remain comfortable, even when wet. The second option is a black titanium carbide coated stainless steel bracelet. This option perfectly matches the watch’s case and will be perfectly suited to everyday wear.
