Bering was launched as a watch brand in 2010, led by founder Michael Witt Johansen. Johansen was greatly inspired by his father’s travels around the Arctic. The brand was named for the Danish sailor Vitus Bering. Bering set sail in 1728 and crossed the straits that would later be named the Bering Straits in his honour.
