Earlier today Garmin released its newest smartwatches, the Garmin Venu 2 and 2S. Garmin is a brand best known for its high-tech timepieces mostly targeted towards professionals such as athletes, divers or the military. With the Venu 2, however, it appears that the brand has decided to take a different direction with both the design and the features of the timepiece. Garmin’s Venu 2 is the perfect timepiece for the everyday person for who fitness is a hobby rather than a lifestyle.
With this new smartwatch, Garmin is striving to inspire people to strengthen the connection between their mind and body. More and more people are becoming aware of the impact fitness has on their health and their wellbeing.
The new Garmin smartwatches come in two sizes. The Venu2 and the Venu2S. The Venu2 has a black case that measures 45 mm in diameter. It’s secured by a black silicone strap. Red detailing on the strap adds interest to the sleek monochrome design. The smaller model, the Venu2S measures 41 mm in diameter. The bezel of the model is rose-gold giving it a more high-end tone. Securing the Venu2S is a white leather strap, which closes with a rose-gold pin buckle. Both Venu2 models have an upgraded bright AMOLED display with enhanced graphics.
The functions of the watch are varied and an emphasis is placed on creating a well-rounded timepiece with features that focus on both mental and physical health. Instead of pushing the boundaries, Garmin’s Venu 2 strives to support the wearer and their lifestyle, no matter their activity level. The watch keeps track of a variety of biometrics such as heart rate, respiration and blood oxygen level. To ensure the wearer is taking care of themselves the smartwatch monitors stress levels and sleep stages. The sleep score gives insight and tips on how to improve your sleep.
Though the HIIT function features preloaded workouts, the Venu 2 also gives the wearer a chance to create their own. The model also has an enhanced strength activity function with over 1400 workouts. The feature shows which muscle groups are being used during exercise. It also records all intensity minutes and calculates the Fitness Age. To ensure the safety of the wearer the model features fall detection. The battery of the timepiece can last up to 7 days in smartwatch mode and up to 6 hours when the GPS is used.
The watch will become available on May 12th.
