Earth Day is a day where we celebrate nature and our connection to the natural world. The day focuses on conservation and bringing awareness to envirnomental issues. We’ve decided to focus on 5 eco-friendly brands for Earth Day. WeWood
WeWood was founded in Florence, Italy in 2009. The brand strives to provide timepieces for the environmentally conscious by making its watches mostly out of wood. WeWood fights deforestation by planting trees and the brand has planted 442.246 trees starting in 2010.
WeWood Mens Kappa Chocolate Wooden Brown Strap
The WeWood Kappa watch is made almost entirely of wood. The bracelet and the 45 mm case are wooden, stained a deep chocolate brown. The grain of the wood can be seen on the bezel, bracelet and case. Markers have been engraved into the bezel. The dial is a lighter brown and is complemented by luminescent hands and indices. Adding interest to the design are the orange hands on the subdials. Protecting the dial is a mineral crystal. Features on the watch include a day, date and 24-hour subdials.
Oris
Oris not only donates to charitable organizations which work towards the preservation of the environment. The brand works towards reducing their environmental footprint through their packaging. Oris’ standard boxes are made of 100% recycled cardboard. Oris has a philosophy of “change for the better”. Some of the organizations the brand has worked with help with coral restoration and marine life conservation.
ORIS Limited Edition Aquis Diver Hangang Green Dial
The Oris Limited Edition Hangang was created in collaboration with Seoul KFEM in support of the organization’s efforts to help clean debris and pollution from the Han River. The river is one of Seoul’s most important water sources. The timepiece is made of stainless steel. The case measures 43.5 mm in diameter. The vibrant green colour of the ceramic bezel and the dial are inspired by the creeks at the source of the river. Contrasting the dial are a set of silver-coloured luminescent indices and hands. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. The watch has a date indicator and a small seconds subdial. The movement on the timepiece is automatic with a power reserve of up to 38 hours. Ensuring the 30 bar water resistance is a screw-down crown. A special engraving is featured on the case back.
Nixon
Nixon understands their responsibility to produce sustainable pieces. The brand understands that protecting the ocean is of paramount importance when it comes to wildlife conservation and ecology. Nixon has made a commitment to use recycled ocean plastics in thier timepieces.

Nixon’s Siren model is design to not only provide comfort to the wearer. The burgundy case of the watch is made of repurpoused ocean plastics. It has a burgundy silicone strap. The timepiece has a digital display and a quartz movement. Features on the watch include a chronograph, a date and a day aperture. The watch has a backlight and a chronograph alongside a basic tide and future tide functions. The watch has a water resistance up to 10 bars or 100 meters.
Mondaine
Mondaine is commited to sustainability in production and materials. The brand has been dedicated to this philosophy over the past 25 years. Mondaine uses the natural materials such as ricinus or wondertree plant, recycled PET bottles and cork. The brand uses recycled materials not only for their Essence watches but also for the packaging pouches.
Mondaine Essence Quartz Black Natural Rubber Strap White Dial
Mondaine’s Essence watch is a simple timepiece with a streamlined silhoette. The 41 mm black case is made of castor oil-based polyamide. The natural rubber strap securing the watch ensures the comfort of the wearer. Giving it the classic Mondaine look is the white dial, contrasted by black rectangular indices and thick hands. A scratch-resistant mineral crystal covers the dial.
Certina
Certina supports the Sea Turtle Conservancy and their Tour de Turtles project. The project tracks the migration of sea turtles as they conpelete their three month journey. The conservation project aims to help create more protected areas for the turtles. Certina has been involved in the project since 2017.
