Today, Garmin have announced the release of a special commemorative watch that has been created alongside the world-renowned American Magic sailing team. This new model is part of the MARQ range, a collection of elite tool watches that was first introduced in 2019 and has since become one of the flagship smartwatches for the brand. This watch combines the tradition and innovation that has long been a part of this sport and has been crafted with the team in preparation for the 36th America’s Cup.
Here is a first look at the model:
MARQ Captain American Magic Design
If you are familiar with the MARQ Captain already, then you may have noticed some key changes to the new American Magic. Whilst the original model featured a ceramic bezel in a darker shade of navy blue, the American Magic edition comes in a lighter shade with the text ‘American Magic’ between 10 o’clock and 12 o’clock on the bezel.
Although the case diameter remains the same at 46mm, all five pushers have increased in size with a slight reshape and character line near the top of the timepiece. The American Magic comes with water resistance of up to 100 meters which is suitable for yachting, however, this is only providing the wearer does not fall over board.
MARQ Captain American Magic Functionality
As with the whole of the MARQ range, this watch comes with an array of functions tailored to it’s sport.
Here are some of the functions of this elite tool watch:
- Three different sailing-focused workout programs which include: Race Stimulation, Intervals and Fitness test. Each of these programs provide data on heart rate, VO2 Max and recovery which helps to minimise the risk of training during injury.
- It comes preloaded and with Topographic Maps, GPS Navigation, Storm Alerts, Coastal Charts, Maritime Profiles, Emergency SOS function and more!
- As with other Garmin MARQ models the Captain Magic comes with Garmin Pay, Music Streaming, Sleep Monitoring and Smart Notifications for both Apple and Android devices.
- The battery on this model can also last up to 12 days in smartwatch mode.
