Arriving as part of the hugely popular Music Icons series, Raymond Weil have chosen their flagship Freelancer collection to capture the free-spirited attitude and classic trademarks of Jimi Hendrix. The collection has already paid tribute to legendary artists such as The Beatles and Bob Marley!
Raymond Weil celebrate the iconic life and music of legendary guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, with their all new Limited Edition Freelancer Chronograph, which is specifically inspired by the musician’s timeless Woodstock performance. Last year was also the 50th anniversary of the famous event, which turned out to be one of the most pivotal, and important, music events in history, which saw Hendrix perform his iconic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
As well as the festival itself, Hendrix’s famous 1968 white Fender Stratocaster acts as one of the main inspiring points for the details of the Freelancer dial. Mimicking the frets on the guitar neck, Raymond Weil have included ten dotted index markers around the edge of the dial, as well as the circular border, representing the six guitar strings.
Crafted by Raymond Weil’s in-house watchmakers, in Geneva, this special timepiece maintains the tried and tested case design of the Freelancer collection, with it’s matte finish, chronograph push buttons and classic brown leather strap. The tachymeter, sat inside the dial, has been detailed with a quote from the artist, “Music is my Religion”, alongside his name. This is complimented by the inclusion of the Authentic Hendrix logo on the case back, which gives each piece of the limited edition run his estates seal of approval. This really makes the watch a must have for any Jimi Hendrix fan!
This timepiece is in extremely limited supply, with only 500 units available, worldwide. Each of the 500 pieces will come with it’s own numbered case back, as well as a certificate signed by Janie Hendrix, the sister of Jimi.
Each Limited Edition watch will come packaged in a special blue and white commemorative box, which again plays homage to Woodstock! This special edition packaging is completed with a vibrant tie-dye interior, offering the perfect backdrop to proudly display your new timepiece!
