Who are AnchorCert?
The ChloBo AnchorCert certification has only just been announced, and you may not have even heard of AnchorCert before, so who are they? They are actually larger than you’d imaging, being part of the historically renowned Birmingham Assay Office. They have become one of the UK’s leading test houses, working in the field of analysis of precious metals and product safety compliance.
Years of thorough, in depth research and development has allowed them to develop a revolutionary test to detect allergens, called the AnchoCert Pro. This test measures the levels of 17 different allergens that can be present in jewellery. This data is used to ensure that each one will not cause an allergic reaction to your skin when in contact.
What do they test for?
The most common metal allergy is Nickel, however, as mentioned, there are actually 17 different types. 17 different elements that can cause a reaction when wearing certain jewellery.
The only way, until now, to avoid this would be have to not worn certain types or brands of jewellery. This could mean that you were not able to wear your favorite styles and designs at all! The testing that has been carried out by AnchorCert Protect is now able to identify and measure a number of elements, including nickel, lead and cadmium. It measures for elements that are classified as skin sensitisors, to ensure that they do not cause ACD (Allergic Contact Dermatitis).
This is an additional test to the regulatory compliance of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) for Nickel and General Product Safety Regulations for jewellery.
