Storm watches have become know for producing some crazy unique designs that people can’t get enough of! This means that they are continueing to produce new designs that change the way we tell the time! We have previously seen models like the Globe-X, and HY1 connected smartwatch! The latest exciting piece to arrive is the Storm Fibon-X.
The Fibon-X is inspired by the Fibonacci spiral, which is clear when you look at the dial of this watch! The next part is a maths lesson so feel free to skip! The Fibonacci spiral is based on the Fibonacci sequence, created by mathematician, Fibonacci! The basic principle of this is a series of numbers where the next number equals the two numbers before it. Starting with 0 and 1, the sequence goes 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, and so forth.
Fibonacci numbers actually appear in nature too, in the form of sunflowers, hurricanes and galaxies!Sunflower seeds are naturally arranged in this spiral pattern, in order to maintain even distribution! The Fibonacci spiral itself is a sequence of quarter-circles drawn inside an array of squares with Fibonacci numbers for dimensions. These squares fit perfectly together because of the nature of the sequence, as we mentioned previously. Any two successive Fibonacci numbers have a ratio very close to the Golden Ratio, which is roughly 1.618034. The larger the pair of Fibonacci numbers, the closer the approximation. The spiral and resulting rectangle are known as the Golden Rectangle.
The Storm Fibon-X
Now that we have got all of that out of the way, we can look at the watch itself! Despite all of the maths above, the Fibon-X mostly takes visual inspiration from the Fibonacci Spiral. The hour hand of the watch is actually curved just like the spiral, which gives a completely new and never before seen way of telling the time! This is what we have come to expect from Storm. The ways they create intrigue with their designs helps to make their watches real head turners and conversation starters! The overall design of this watch is still really smart too. With stainless steel casing and bracelets, this will be a durable and comfortable watch to wear.
