The Sinn EZM 12 Has Been Awarded The Red Dot Product Design Award 2019!
Sinn Spezialuhren will be celebrating their success during the Red Dot Award ceremony on 8 July 2019, after the Sinn EZM 12 became an award winner, and is now going to be exhibited in the “Design on Stage” in the Red Dot Design Museum, Essen.
“I would like to congratulate the laureates sincerely on their wonderful success. The fact that their products were able to satisfy the strict criteria of the jury bears testimony to their award-winning design quality. The laureates are thus setting key trends in the design industry and are showing where future directions may lead,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, in reference to the winners.
The basic principle of the Red Dot award is broken down in to three separate disciplines; the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot
Award: Design Concept. These three categories combined receive over 18,000 submissions each year, making it one of the largest competitions in the world.
The Red Dot Product Design Award is one of the worlds largest design competitions, and really is a huge achievement for any company that wins! We have previously seen Maurice Lacroix win two Red Dot Awards, with Junghans winning one for the Max Bill, and Klokers and TicWatch also picking up awards too! At this years competition, designers and manufacturers from 55 countries entered over 5,500 products, and only 11 awards have been awarded in the watch category. The international jury, who are in charge of choosing the winners, is made up of experienced experts from a whole range of backgrounds, who have been making the decisions for more than 60 years in order to select the year’s best designs. Throughout the judging stage, which can often take days, the jury work to find the best product in each category, they try out the items, discuss them in depth, and ultimately, come to an agreed decision.
The motto of the competition is “In search of good design and innovation” which is the perfect way to express the way the jury works, and their commitment to finding the best possible finalists, and winner. Throughout the process they will focus on different criteria, including the level of innovation, functionality, form, longevity and ergonomics.
“For the first time, we have nominated one of our watches for the Red Dot Award. We are more than pleased that the Sinn EZM 12 has been honored. It is a confirmation of the correctness of the principles that we follow when developing our mission timers”, explains qualified engineer Lothar Schmidt, owner of Sinn Spezialuhren.
