The Red Bull Air Race is back once again in 2019, and as Official Timekeeper for the event, Hamilton watches draw inspiration and knowledge from the Air Race, helping to form a number of different models from the Hamilton Khaki Aviation range. The Air race itself brings fans twists, turns and thrills as highly skilled pilots take on the different courses around the word at extreme speeds with split-second timing. These pilots and Air Race teams, including Hamilton, have already taken on one event back in February which was held in Abu Dhabi, and have another 7 or so races to go throughout the year across different continents.
Not only are Hamilton the official timekeeper, but they also now have their own roster of pilots, flying for Team Hamilton. Four pilots make up the team, each bringing their own unique style and flying personality. In the season opening race in Abu Dhabi the Team Hamilton pilots were able to pick up some valuable points, and have said that they are looking forward to the stops in Kazan, Chiba and Indianapolis later on in the year.
“The Red Bull Air Race is the most exciting aerial sport in the world and one that underlines our dedication to aviation.” – Hamilton watches.
It has been the feedback from the Team Hamilton pilots that has allowed Hamilton to keep on testing and developing new instrument innovations, like the drift angle calculator which can be found on the fantastic Khaki X-Wind Auto Chrono. Not only this, but working closely with their pilots has helped them to keep up to date with all the latest trends and styles in the world of Aviation, which has helped to craft some of our most popular models from the Hamilton Khaki Aviation range, such as the Worldtimer Chronograph or the Khaki Air Race which takes inspiration from the race itself!

How does the Air Race help Hamilton watches?
Through their partnership and participation with the Red Bull Air race, Hamilton are able to gain a unique insight into the fastest, most daring and innovative branch of the world of aviation. By using their experiences in this unique world, they are able to take away inspiration, both technological and aesthetic to improve their own work and produce the most exciting watches for us!
Understanding the needs of pilots and what would help them whilst in the air has pushed Hamilton to develop and create new technologies, and improve upon existing ones, such as the drift angle calculator that we mentioned previously. This has caused the Hamilton Khaki Aviation range to be one of the most diverse and varying collections form the Swiss watchmakers, with a range of tech filled watches, and a range of stylish, almost fashion watches too. The way that Hamilton take inspiration, visually, from the world of Aviation is fantastic, the way that they are able to fill each watch with references to the cockpit of a plane, or with the materials used and the shapes of different components.
