The Hamilton Air Zermatt – Made For Professionals
The Hamilton Air Zermatt special edition is available in three different variations, which were first created last year in 2018 to mark the Air Zermatt team’s 50th anniversary. The Hamilton Air Zermatt partnership has been in place since 2011, and has helped to develop and produce timepieces that suit their needs in regards to form and function.
“We usually talk about the ‘golden hour’: The time in which a patient should be in hospital. The time pressure is always there and time is also important to monitor our fuel consumption. Minute and second counters are particularly important for us in a watch.” – Gerold Biner (Air Zermat CEO and pilot)
Air Zermatt are one of, if not the most, famous air rescue service in the world. With 65 employees and 9 helicopters across their 3 bases through the mountainous (including the Matterhorn) Valais region of Switzerland. The team have come a long way since the first began in 1968, from just the one helicopter, pilot and mechanic, and they have now been documented in a streaming series where the operations and rescue missions are shown to the rest of the world, the series is called ‘The Horn’.
Dedicated to the Swiss watchmakers partnership with the famous Air Zermatt rescue team, a special edition Khaki Aviation watch is the latest to be released. This model, the H64625731 special edition has been designed to stand up to the tests that the air rescue team would face day-to-day, and so, this model comes with an ultra-readable black dial with contrasting indexes and numerals in a bright blue, which also come coated in Super-LumiNova® which then ensures accurate legibility in any light conditions, which all sits behind scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass.
This model benefits form Hamilton’s H-40 automatic movement, which is housed inside a 42mm, 100m (10ATM) resistant stainless steel case. This H-40 movement features an extended power reserve of up to 80 hours, meaning that you can set your watch aside on Friday, and it will be still ticking when you come to it again Monday. This power reserve is almost double the market standard.
